Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith marked the conclusion of the prequels era of the space opera franchise created by George Lucas. The film explores Anakin Skywalker’s turn to the dark side and transformation into Darth Vader. Meanwhile, the Jedi Order is destroyed by the Sith, forcing Master Yoda to take some tough calls.

Given Yoda’s larger role in the film, Lucas and his creative team had to figure out how to deal with his movements as he was primarily a CGI creation. Lucas faced issues with filming scenes where he had to depict Yoda walking, resulting in a hilarious issue. Nonetheless, Lucas was able to resolve the issue with a clever CGI solution, and here is everything you need to know about it.

George Lucas returned to the galaxy far, far away to complete his epic space opera saga with the prequels that detail the backstory of Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader. The prequels explore the rise of the Empire and the fall of the Jedi, with the Clone Troopers playing a crucial role in the overall storyline of this particular era.

In the third installment of the prequels Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, Lucas brought back actor Temuera Morrison to play some of the Clone Troopers following his performance as Jango Fett in the earlier installment. However, Lucas quickly realized that Morrison was too old for the part and came up with an inventive solution to resolve the issue.

Transitioning from a period of monochromatic to color television and then taking leaps with technology, the latter half of the ‘90s saw the rise of several acclaimed franchises. Additionally, the constant push to compete and the near-limitless creative options brought over by new cameras and gears helped filmmakers usher in an era of pioneering.
Among the top visionaries of this period, Steven Spielberg stands as a hallowed persona for his immense contribution to the arts as well as to modern cinema.

Spanning across genres, the director’s works knew no bounds as he published one masterpiece after another, including the likes of Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, Jaws, and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Moreover, each of his projects took a step forward in expanding the boundaries of cinematic possibilities, making several franchises of today stand by adapting to those techniques.

There will be spoilers for the third episode of "Star Wars: The Acolyte," so beware.
The road to hell is always paved with the best of intentions, and that's the moral of a lot of fairy tales. It's something George Lucas hammered home pretty directly when he wrote the prequel trilogy, as we watched Anakin Skywalker's slow descent into evil. The overriding desire to do the right thing -- even in the face of great evil -- is ultimately what drove Anakin Skywalker to the Dark side and the downfall of the Jedi order. He wanted the power to influence the midi-chlorians to cheat death and protect those he cared about. Under the manipulative influence of the Sith lord Darth Sidious, Anakin succumbed to his worst impulses for what he thought were the best of reasons.

The Star Wars universe was kickstarted by George Lucas decades ago and has since evolved and taken a shape that fans have not necessarily loved. After Disney acquired the space opera franchise in 2012, there have been several hits and misses, more misses than there were actual hits. The Acolyte seems to be on the same path even though its critical reviews have been better than expected.

"He can see things before they happen," Qui-Gon Jinn tells Shmi Skywalker about her son Anakin in "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace." He explains to her that if he had been born in the Republic, he'd have been identified early and trained as a Jedi. Then, curiously, he asks her who the boy's father was.
"There was no father," Anakin's mother tells the venerable Jedi. "I carried him. I gave birth. I can't explain what happened."
Qui-Gon explains later that this is a vergence in the Force and that Anakin (whose age was a struggle for George Lucas to decide) was conceived of the midi-chlorians themselves; the building blocks of life and a pathway through which living things can hear the will of the Force. Steven Spielberg has directed and produced several blockbusters that are known for their special effects. But although he’s applied this kind of movie magic to his films, he once felt special effects lost some of its luster.

Spielberg has always been a user of special effects. In a 2014 interview with Empire, he once quipped that he enjoyed visually enhancing his films even if that meant agonizing over them.

Although Williams retired from Star Wars after The Rise of Skywalker and never directly worked on the Disney+ and Lucasfilm Ltd TV series, Kiner said there’s no avoiding Williams DNA in that universe.

The premiere of The Acolyte, the new Star Wars series, proved once again how careful one must be with promises and expectations. According to the show's creators, the new story was supposed to change the perception of the entire franchise, but so far it has only managed to anger fans.
During filming, there was also talk of emphasizing the detective component. Agatha Christie would have laughed her head off had she known that within the walls of Disney, this is what they call a detective show.

It has become common knowledge that a vast majority of the Star Wars franchise was inspired by Frank Herbert’s Dune series. Both have noticeable similarities, and the influence is not surprising considering just how many have had a similar relationship with the classic book series. One of the most evident resemblances between the two stories is the characters of Paul Atreides and Anakin Skywalker.

Their beginnings as heroes and their deaths, reminiscent of antagonists, will forever be heartbreaking. However, there is no denying that one of these stories executed their corruption better than the other. Even though George Lucas was inspired by Herbert’s work, he was unable to outdo the original.

A happy surprise on Friday — gleaned from a soggy copy of the Santa Monica Mirror left in the curbside box — was news that we almost have a spanking new science fiction museum in these parts. Called Sci-fi World: The Experience, it occupies the old Sears department store premises in downtown Santa Monica. The grand opening was set for Memorial Day but slipped a bit over staffing and city permit and code issues, according to the Mirror. But, hey, this is Santa Monica. The Star Wars Extended Universe, one that Disney has relegated to the Legends continuity, is a wealth of great storytelling and concepts that have given a lot of fans comfort when Star Wars has not been able to satisfy the itch that fans hoped it would with it’s latest product. A few stars in Tinseltown shine as brightly as the revered Hollywood icon, Clint Eastwood, who has long been regarded as a respected veteran of the movie business. But have you heard the heartwarming tale of solidarity & respect that developed between Eastwood and Ron Howard, another giant of the silver screen whose directorial finesse often slips under the radar despite his stellar contributions?
Well, from Howard’s early days of playing Opie in The Andy Griffith Show to holding directing duties for Solo: A Star Wars Story, he has been a relentless force both in front of and behind the camera. However, it was not until the 1980s, when he collaborated with George Lucas on the cult film Willow, that he gained public recognition as a director.

After Toy Story, Toy Story 2, and A Bug’s Life, John Lasseter directed his fourth film collaboration with Disney and Pixar, Cars (2006). By the time Pixar animated the story based on anthropomorphic cars, technology had advanced far from what they had used for their revolutionary first film in 1995. According to the reports, the computers used for animating Cars were 1000 times faster than those used in Toy Story.

While many celebrate the groundbreaking visual effects of the Star Wars series when it was released, few know that the sci-fi franchise also introduced many new techniques and revolutionized the sound design and mixing industry. George Lucas established Skywalker Sound (then Sprocket Systems) to work on the sound design of his epic franchise.
Sound designers of Skywalker Sound were reportedly involved early on in the Star Wars sequels as Lucas wanted specific sounds for the films. These included creating sounds for the tech such as lightsabers and robots as well as for the animals and creatures featured. The designers recounted how one old Mongolian woman laid the foundation for Ewoks.

The Star Wars franchise gained its iconic status in Hollywood thanks to the genius vision of pioneering filmmaker George Lucas who set the benchmark when it came to the sci-fi genre. Lucas was also fortunate to have a strong team of technical experts who brought his ambitious ideas to life on screen.

Sound designers Ben Burtt and Randy Thom who created the entire soundscape for the franchise, were expectedly crucial to the narratives. Speaking about the extensive research that went into creating unique languages and sounds for the non-human characters, Burtt revealed the out-of-the-box process they used to arrived at the now recognizable language of Jabba The Hutt.

Creating Star Wars is undoubtedly a task of Herculean proportions that only a visionary like George Lucas could have achieved.

Among the various successful lineups of Disney’s Pixar, it features popular titles like Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and many more. However, there is one underrated franchise that does not get the wholehearted love it deserves. It is none other than Cars. The film is often overlooked but it is surely one of the classic films that is enjoyed by children and adults alike.

Though one would assume from the title that the story is merely about some automobiles, its central themes are much more complex and center more than just vehicles. May The Force be with the Star Wars director who deemed Anakin Skywalker ‘the greatest Jedi of all time.’
Filmmaker and screenwriter Dave Filoni sparked a fuse of controversy by claiming that the boldly impetuous Jedi who would later metamorphose into a malicious brute is “the greatest.” So, naturally, a frenzy of disbelief took over the entire fandom that was upended at the mere insinuation of such a thing.

The vast galactic story of Star Wars begins with Episode I: The Phantom Menace – a relatively tame chapter in the extraordinary mythology of George Lucas. By the time The Clone Wars enters the picture, a monumental shift can be recognized within each character who has already begun to be molded toward their destinies. Among them lies a fleeting but unforgettable arc of Darth Maul.

George Lucas, the man who spawned the beloved Star Wars franchise, has always been marked as a visionary of supreme quality and his works speak on his behalf. Although one would think it was the audience reception that forced Lucas to end that was not the case as he opened up about his decision to MTV.

Revenge of the Sith is the best entry in the Prequel trilogy for Star Wars, one that brought audiences face to face with the downfall of Anakin Skywalker, the Jedi Order, and the rise of the Galactic Empire. While the Prequels have been infinitely memed, the trilogy, especially its finale, consists of some of the most emotionally charged moments of the entire franchise.
One such moment, that has been simultaneously memed and and considered one of the most emotionally charged moments of the franchise, is the battle between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker (now Darth Vader) on the plane of Mustafar. One of the many things that made fans laugh out loud was the finale of the battle, where Obi-Wan Kenobi declares that he has the high ground, but it seems that this was not the only iteration of the fight between the Jedi Master and his former Padawan.

George Lucas’ Star Wars was a truly remarkable film franchise in the sci-fi fantasy genre. But the film series may not have been perfect in all sense. For years, the franchise had been accused of portraying poorly-written female characters. In particular, the original trilogy’s Leia was criticized for being a ‘damsel in distress’ character.

Lucas vehemently defended the series, claiming that the films were groundbreaking for including strong women. He shared that women like Princess Leia and Queen Amidala were the true leaders of the rebellion. He added that he couldn’t just put women in pants in his films to make them the heroes. However, Lucas’ views might be skewed in more than one way.

George Lucas had to face very strong criticism from the Star Wars fandom when he returned to the franchise with his infamous Prequel Trilogy. Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, which started the Prequels in 1999 is often regarded as the worst in the epic space-opera franchise.
However, out of the numerous infamous aspects of The Phantom Menace that have raised the eyebrows of fans to date, nothing can beat the podrace scene. Despite being marketed as one of the primary set pieces from the film, George Lucas failed miserably in making the scene likeable.

Back in 1977, George Lucas released Episode IV – A New Hope to mark the beginning of a whole new era in the world of space operas. If anything, he made history and perfectly defined what cinematic masterpieces truly are with the first six movies (original and prequel trilogy) he curated the story for in the Star Wars saga. But then Disney acquired Lucasfilm, and that was that.

Joe Dante's "Gremlins" is a one-of-a-kind blockbuster from an era when studios hadn't quite yet developed the formula for producing hit movies. In the early 1980s, executives under pressure to find projects capable of breaking the coveted $100 million domestic mark relied heavily on movie stars or bestselling books, but to strike gold you needed vision. That meant finding a visionary.
There were two 30-something film brats who fit this profile during that period: George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. And since Lucas was, at the moment, a two-franchise man with "Star Wars" and the just-taking-off Indiana Jones series, Spielberg, who'd just set up his production company Amblin Entertainment at Universal Pictures, was the closest thing to a Walt Disney alive and unfrozen in Hollywood.

When spoof-master Mel Brooks delivered his classic "Star Wars" parody "Spaceballs" back in 1987, his Schwartz-wielding character Yogurt (a riff on Frank Oz's beloved Yoda) made a meta joke that put forth the hope of one day seeing a sequel, "Spaceballs II: The Search for More Money." Sadly, in the decades since "Spaceballs" was released, the line has proven to be nothing more than a punchline. Despite the fact that George Lucas returned to "Star Wars" with a prequel trilogy, Mel Brooks never came back to his sci-fi lampoon, even though the lambasted saga of Anakin Skywalker would have been ripe for parody. However, it seems that the chance of a "Spaceballs" sequel coming together has increased.

Lucasfilm's latest Star Wars series, The Acolyte, debuted on Disney+ earlier this week with a two-episode premiere, and a lot of people have tuned in for the first live-action Galaxy Far, Far Away adventure set in the High Republic Era.
Despite the usual backlash, The Acolyte was a big hit with critics (it currently sits at a most impressive 93% on Rotten Tomatoes) and the positive reviews appear to have convinced more than just Star Wars aficionados to give this one a go.
According to Disney+, The Acolyte is the most-watched series premiere of 2024, logging 4.8 million views within its first day of streaming (views are defined as total stream time divided by runtime). Disney+ did not report same-day viewership for the previous Star Wars show, Ahsoka, but did announce that it had reached 14 million views within its first five days on the platform.

If you haven't watched yet, here's your spoiler warning.
Shortly after Mae dispatches Master Indara in the first episode, we learn that several other Jedi are on her kill list, and it later comes to light that she has very specific instructions when it comes to her method of assassination.
In episode 2, Qimir reminds Mae that her Master has ordered her to kill at least one of the Jedi without the use of a weapon. It was generally assumed that this was simply down to passing a test of skill, but there's a lot more to it.
