In 2020, audiences would watch a global disaster unfold in front of their eyes, and ironically, that year would also bring us the disaster movie Greenland. Ric Roman Waugh’s thriller starred Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin and follows a family’s struggle to get to emergency proceedings as they’re selected for shelter from the impending doom of a comet hurling toward our planet. Unlike most disaster films, this story was told from the perspective of everyday citizens simply trying to evade the crazy panic of the population in order to seek refuge. Talks of a sequel have been going on for a while and Deadline now reports that Greenland: Migration is set to film this April with the cast returning along with Ric Roman Waugh and screenwriter Chris Sparling. Sparling co-writes this entry with Mitchell Lafortune. The plot, according to Deadline, reads, “The Garrity family must leave the safety...

Exclusive: We’ve learned that STX Entertainment has reached a deal with Nadya Tolokonnikova, the artist, activist, and creator of the legendary Russian feminist protest art collective Pussy Riot, to develop a limited scripted series based on her forthcoming memoir.
The project was brought to the studio by former President of STX Sophie Watts.
The series represents the first scripted project of Pussy Riot with the full support of the creator of the movement, Nadya Tolokonnikova, with all preceding projects (including Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer and Pussy versus Putin) being documentaries. The original 1997 Broadway staging of "Titanic: The Musical" created a legend of itself, rising from previews' technical snafus and mixed reviews before achieving a Best Musical Tony and a run of 804 performances. Nowadays, the title might sound like a memetic gag for those uninitiated with its existence. Really? A musical about the 1912 sinking of the Rms Titanic? But the music may just answer that by shattering the stoniest of hearts.
The morbidly curious or the die-hard theatre-heads who can't access or afford a live professional production now may get their chance. Coincidentally also sharing a 25th anniversary with James Cameron's blockbuster this year, "Titanic: The Musical" finally has a Fathom Events theatrical release, namely a capture of the Thom Southerland-directed production filmed at the Southampton's Mayflower Theatre. This BroadwayHD-produced capture (directed for the screen by Austin Shaw) preserves what has aged like fine wine: Maury Yeston's sumptuous score,...

A survivor of Jimmy Savile’s abuse has recalled seeing Steve Coogan in character for the first time.
Coogan plays the disgraced TV star in a new four-part BBC drama titled The Reckoning, which will dramatise Savile’s history of pedophila.
As part of the duty of care in place for the drama, which was written by Neil McKay and produced by Jeff Pope, the production invited numerous survivors to the set in an attempt to convince them of the responsibility they felt in ensuring the story was told sensitively.
One survivor, Sam Brown, has now revealed what it was like seeing Coogan in character as Savile. Brown was repeatedly abused by Savile as a child.
She told Deadline she knew she would be approached by Coogan after he had finished filming a scene in Cheshire, but was not prepared for the “powerful” reaction she’d have to seeing him.

Exclusive: Sam Brown vividly recalls her visceral reaction to Steve Coogan. The BAFTA-winning actor was fresh from shooting a scene when he walked across a Cheshire graveyard in her direction.
With lightning-white hair, makeup, and in full costume, Coogan was unmistakably the image of Jimmy Savile, the BBC presenter who repeatedly abused Brown when she was just a child. Brown arrived at the encounter determined to face the specter of her late tormenter, but nothing could prepare her for the “powerful” jolt that shot through her body as Coogan approached.
“As he was walking towards me, in my head I was thinking, ‘No, go away.’ I kept thinking, ‘Go away.’ Seemingly this wasn’t kept in my head. I was saying all of this [out loud] and didn’t realize I was bloody saying it. I was so embarrassed,” she remembers.

Moore died August 6 after a fall from a second-story balcony at his Los Angeles home. He was 41.
The cororner said in its report that the accident occurred in Moore’ backyard, where he was found on the patio. He died of blunt force head trauma. The report also found that Moore’s blood alcohol content was well over the legal limit.

Discovery Channel is entering the dating game with series orders for three shows that blend romance with nature, entertainment and adventure, including “Naked and Afraid of Love,” “Mating Season” and “Mountain Love,” TheWrap has learned exclusively.
The trio of series will be available across Discovery, Inc. platforms later this year.
Here’s the official description for “Naked and Afraid of Love”:
Today, dating has become filtered – through the clothes we wear, jobs we have, and lives we share on social media. But what if it was all stripped away — the filters, dating apps and curated personas — leaving room for only our most primal wants and needs, and exposing who we really are in the process? Would we forge stronger connections? Discovery seeks to answer these questions and more in “Naked and Afraid of Love,” a groundbreaking take on modern dating that is the ultimate blend of survival and romance unlike anything viewers have seen.

Scott Frazier (xXx: Return of Xander Cage) and Jimmy Loweree, a small town gets a big surprise when a spaceship carrying the universe’s most wanted and dangerous criminals crash lands in their backyard. Exclusive: Manhunt co-creator Andrew Sodroski has been hired to adapt the screenplay for action-thriller Rogue from STXfilms, Tencent and producer David Goyer.
As we revealed earlier this year, Dean Israelite (Power Rangers) is directing. Dark Knight scribe Goyer and Keith Levine are producing for Phantom Four, which has a first look deal with Tencent. The film, which revolves around a CIA agent, is originally based on a pitch from writer Tj Fixman. Drew Simon is overseeing the project at Stx along with Sam Brown.
The feature marks Sodroski’s return to features after writing and exec producing two seasons of true crime series Manhunt. He most recently wrote and executive-produced Manhunt: Deadly Games, the 10-hour limited series for Charter Spectrum and Lionsgate. The series tells the story of the search for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics Bomber, Eric Rudolph (Jack Huston) — and the media firestorm surrounding Richard Jewell (Cameron Britton). Prior to that,...

The project, written by Jon and Erich Hoeber, follows a man who wakes up in Tijuana after being left for dead with absolutely no memory. As he follows a string of clues to uncover his identity, he discovers that he’s been living two different lives: one, as a super-successful Crime Kingpin, surrounded by beautiful women, expensive toys and a lavish lifestyle, and the other as an undercover CIA agent, but with a puny salary, no family or home life whatsoever and zero trappings of success. The problem is, he can’t remember which of these two personas is his true identity. Annie Marter (Transcendence) of 87North will executive produce. Drew Simon, Kevin Sauer and Sam Brown are overseeing the development for Stx.

I'll warn you up front: There's an awful lot of profanity in this video. It's laced with some swear words. Now I'm off the hook...
Two of The Whitest Kids U Know, Zach Cregger and Trevor Moore, have co-written and directed Miss March , a new sex romp comedy in which they also star. There are now some "auditions" for roles in the film, and who should pop up but other members of the Whitest Kids ensemble.
I didn't really care for the one with Darren Trumeter (which you can watch here), but I do like when Sam Brown shows up to audition for Hugh Hefner, a part that will be played by Hugh Hefner.
Miss March opens, oddly enough, on March 13th.
