- Senior Editor / Vice President of Alfred A. Knopf Publishers. Edited Julia Child's, Simone Beck's and Louisette Bertholle's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking", and remained Child's editor for the rest of the chef's career. Responsible for the American publication of "The Diary of Anne Frank". Has also worked with Langston Hughes, Anne Tyler, and John Updike.
- At Alfred A. Knopf Publishers she started out mainly as a translator of French writers such as Jean-Paul Sartre and Albert Camus (I). After Julia Child's cookbook landed on her desk, she spent months trying the recipes before deciding the book must be published.
