“Shōgun” might be creating some drama at the Emmys.
Multiple industry insiders tell Variety that FX, the heavyweight contender in the Primetime Emmy race for outstanding limited or anthology series, is considering a bold move: shifting its submission for “Shōgun” to the drama series categories this year.
This strategic repositioning hints at the likely return of the protagonist, Lord Yoshii Toranaga (played by Hiroyuki Sanada). It’s official: There will no longer be an all Law & Order Thursday night on NBC. For its fifth season, Law & Order: Organized Crime is moving to the streaming service, Peacock. That breaks it up from airing Thursday nights after Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU, which also means that chances are there won’t be many (if any) crossovers. And of course, that leads to the inevitable question of what that means for the will they/won’t they slow burn of Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and Svu‘s Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay). Organized Crime was created by Dick Wolf, Matt Olmstead, and Ilene Chaiken. It follows the detectives of the Organized Crime Control Bureau as they take on New York City’s most vicious and violent criminal syndicates. It brought Meloni back to the world of Law & Order in 2021, via a two-part crossover with...

Kristen Johnston will star alongside Leanne Morgan in the latter’s upcoming Netflix comedy series, Variety has learned.
The untitled multi-cam comedy was picked up at Netflix in April with a 16-episode order. Morgan co-created the series with Susan McMartin and Chuck Lorre. The role marks a reunion for Lorre and Johnston, as Johnston previously appeared in the CBS multi-cam “Mom,” which Lorre also co-created.
The official description for Morgan’s series states: “Leanne’s life takes an unexpected turn when her husband of 33 years leaves her for another woman. Starting over when you’re a grandmother and in menopause isn’t exactly what she had in mind, but with the help of her family she will navigate this new chapter with grace, dignity and jello salad.”
Johnston will star in the series regular role of Carol, Leanne’s sister. The character is said to be Leanne’s complete opposite.

Dog Whisperer With Cesar Millan premiered 20 years ago on National Geographic, and pet ownership has never been the same. Setting an example for your dog with “calm, assertive energy” is paramount in Millan’s philosophy, and, as he detailed in his 2007 book Be the Pack Leader: Use Cesar's Way to Transform Your Dog… and Your Life, “Discipline isn't about showing a dog who's boss; it's about taking responsibility for a living creature you have brought into your world.”
Millan has long preached the belief that a dog’s behavior is the result of its human’s behavior, which, sure, can sound daunting, but it also means that, with some research and training of their own, humans can instill good behaviors and curtail bad ones in their pets. That’s the thinking behind Millan’s Dog Whisperer follow-up, Better Human, Better Dog, now in its fourth season on Nat Geo.

In a landscape where art mirrors reality, certain television shows and Black creators have steadfastly used their platforms to confront societal truths. While drama and documentary series have long served this purpose, there's a notable shift as Black creators employ the genre of horror to address the myriad challenges faced by Black individuals, offering not just visual entertainment but a profound sense of validation for Black viewers.
With series like Little Marvin’s Them entering its second season, delving into the complexities of Black relationships with law enforcement, questions arise about why horror serves as a vehicle for these narratives. For many creators, it's about intertwining a dark racial history with the very real fears experienced by Black audiences while shedding light on the existential dread of simply existing as a Black American.

Yeah, there are things that are going to be happening in Eddie’s life that are going to leave him feeling isolated.” And so looking ahead, he says, “Season 8 is going to be almost like a refresh button for Eddie, starting into this new lifestyle of his and how to navigate uncharted waters. True crime aficionados get ready for Oxygen’s anything-but-charming new series Sins of the South. Each episode digs into the horrific murder cases that rocked the region below the Mason-Dixon line. Helping tell the stories are first-hand accounts from the victims’ loved ones and law enforcement coinciding with archival footage and cinematic recreations you’ve come to expect from the network’s fare. The premiere “Terror in Tenessee” centers on the 2008 disappearance and murder of Tina Caronnas. She and her husband Joe looked to be living in wedded bliss, but come to find out things aren’t always what they seem. Tina goes missing on the day of a big party for a Corvette Club they belong to and is found dead after a search. It turns out the murder unspooled a yarn of other crimes committed. Later in the season will revisit the slaying of a New Orleans pastor post-Hurricane Katrina,...

Don’t Cross the Stormy
Today was the cross-examination of adult film star and onetime Donald Trump sexual partner Stormy Daniels in a Manhattan courtroom in the former President’s trial on election fraud felony charges. And from all accounts it did not go well for team Trump, as the defiant Daniels responded to Trump lawyer Susan Necheles’ predictable efforts at slut-shaming and her attempts to tar Daniels with being an attention and money-seeking opportunist with some unflappable comebacks worthy of what Jimmy Kimmel termed, “The Stormy Daniels Roast of Donald Trump’s Penis.”

Jeopardy!‘s latest match delivered an early twist among its three players leading to a viewer upset after one majorly fumbled lead. The game featured returning player Allison Gross from Cleveland, Ohio, Jennifer Trofa from Los Angeles, California, and Isabella Dawis from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Early on in the game, Isabella gave Allison a run for her money, leading the pack in the first half of the Jeopardy! round with $6,600 against Allison’s $2,000 and Jennifer’s $800. But the tides turned drastically as they headed into Double Jeopardy! after Isabella lost her massive lead, entering the next round with a mere $600 against Allison’s $4,400, and Jennifer’s $1,000. Isabella’s downfall came with the first Daily Double clue under the category “Let’s Go to the Geopark,” which read, “A geopark named for these people is located on the north coast of Spain near the French border.” The correct response was “Who are the Basques?...

It’s official: Andy Cohen’s run at the clubhouse will continue for at least another year.
Bravo announced today that Watch What Happens Live! with Andy Cohen has been renewed through the end of 2025. The live late-night pop culture show first debuted in July 2009.
While Cohen himself recently said he’d like to continue the show, the renewal puts to rest some speculation that had cropped up about Wwhl’s future.
Last month, Deadline debunked rumors that Cohen was negotiating an exit from Bravo as he faced harassment allegations from Real Housewives stars Leah McSweeney and Brandi Glanville. Alongside Wwhl’s renewal today, Bravo announced that it had ordered an outside investigation of the charges against Cohen, and that he’d been cleared.

Filmmakers are warning that a recent ruling in a copyright suit against Netflix over its “Tiger King” docuseries could restrict the use of video clips in documentaries, and upset a long-held understanding of what constitutes “fair use.”
