Geralyn Marie Betzler worked on several movies throughout the ’80s and ’90s. On her first feature, 1985’s Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, she was credited by her full birth name, but as her screen acting career went on she would take credit as either Geri Betzler or Zoe Trilling – and it’s that second name that most fans seem to know her by. Among her credits are episodes of Guiding Light, 21 Jump Street, and Married… with Children, and the films Amityville Horror: The Evil Escapes, They Came from Outer Space, The Borrower, Dr. Giggles, Night Terrors, Hellbound, and Leprechaun 3 – but her most popular role may be in the 1994 horror comedy Night of the Demons 2, where she stole the show as bad girl Shirley Finnerty. Sadly, just as Night of the Demons 2 is reaching Blu-ray courtesy of Scream Factory, it has been confirmed that Betzler / Trilling passed away...

20th Century has tapped Argentine director Pablo Trapero to direct an adaptation of Olen Steinhauer’s best-selling spy thriller “The Tourist,” TheWrap has confirmed. Neal H. Moritz and Toby Jaffe are producing.
The book’s plot is described as: “Milo Weaver has tried to leave his old life of secrets and lies behind by giving up his job as a ‘tourist’ for the CIA—an undercover agent with no home, no identity—and working a desk at the CIA’s New York headquarters. But staying retired from the field becomes impossible when the arrest of a long-sought-after assassin sets off an investigation into one of Milo’s oldest colleagues and friends.”
The original 2009 novel inspired three more sequels. It was not only a best-selling novel but also received heaps of praise, with Stephen King saying “The Tourist” was “the best spy novel I’ve ever read that wasn’t written by John le Carré.

The final segment of last weekend’s The Simpsons episode “Treehouse of Horror Xxxiii” starts off looking very familiar. It’s a scene from “Marge vs the Monorail”, the 1993 episode written by Conan O’Brien that’s regularly voted among the show’s finest half-hours. Homer is proudly showing his family around the cockpit of the monorail, yet just as he’s about to deliver his famous line about the family of possums living in it – “I call the big one Bitey” – a couple of drunken bros appears and chant the catchphrase in unison. After the pair force beer down his neck, Homer learns he’s not really Homer at all: He’s a high-tech robot host of the sort that populates Westworld. We’re in “SimpsonsWorld”, a theme-park attraction jampacked with fan-favourite references from Kamp Krusty to Hank Scorpio with his flamethrower. When Homer is taken off to be repaired,...

Greg Berlanti will replace Jason Bateman as the director of “Project Artemis,” while Channing Tatum is finalizing a deal to step into a role that once belonged to Chris Evans. The Apple Original Films production has suffered a bit of musical chairs since the streaming giant swept in and landed the package for a reported 100 million-plus.
Scarlett Johansson, who also produces, has remained on board since the film’s inception. Bateman left the project due to creative differences, which altered the shooting schedule and meant that Evans couldn’t complete work on “Project Artemis” and “Pain Hustlers,” his upcoming Netflix feature with Emily Blunt.
Plot details for “Project Artemis” are being kept very hush-hush and on the Qt, but Bateman did reveal to Variety earlier this year that the film was set around the moon landing. He also described “Project Artemis” as a working title, so don’t get too attached to it!

Holly Robinson Peete’s career is anchored by full-circle moments. So it’s pretty fitting that her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony is also pillared by a blast from the past.
“I got very emotional, and I thought about my mom driving me across the country when I was 9 years old from Philadelphia in search of a better life,” she tells Variety. “I thought of her becoming a personal manager and signing her first client, LeVar Burton. She was the Og momager and she is absolutely the reason why I’m getting this star.”
Fast forward to June 21 and Burton is one of the people speaking on Peete’s behalf when she receives that star. “I can’t wait to hear him speak on the 11-year-old Holly,” she adds.
Growing up, Peete was always around actors. Her mother, Dolores Robinson, represented clients including Martin Sheen, Pierce Brosnan, Wesley Snipes, Rosie Perez and Michael Clarke Duncan.

One of the biggest shows in the 1980s made a surprising return in the form of film, as Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill had helmed the action, buddy, comedy 21 Jump Street. The 2012 feature was a smashing success so, of course, Hollywood is going to bank off the brand and greenlight a sequel. 22 Jump Street came out two years later, and the second entry was identical to the first; however, critics and audiences were still receptive to the Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill vehicle, and the sequel was a huge box office success. There’s no denying that 21

Back in late March, when Paramount released “The Lost City,” starring Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe and Brad Pitt, the movie looked like a cute enough rom-com adventure movie in the vein of “Romancing the Stone” and “The Jewel of the Nile.” Those two mid-80s movies brought together Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner, the latter playing a romance novelist similar to Bullock’s character.
“The Lost City” opened #1 with 30.4 million and then proceeded to be one of the nicer box office surprises of the year, remaining in the top 10 for nine weeks straight but maintaining astounding business from week-to-week post-Easter with a few weekends where it barely dropped 12 from its previous week. As of Friday, the movie has now grossed 100 million with quite an amazing run in the top 10, and that’s despite being released on VOD and Paramount+ quite recently.

There are movie reboots, and then there are movie "reboots." The latter, in this case, refers to film reboots that actively mock their own existence and the idea of reducing art to "IPs" and "content" while also successfully reviving an older franchise in the process. It's a fine needle to thread, and the results can just as easily be shockingly good (2012's "21 Jump Street") as they can be, well, not that (2017's "Baywatch").
Thankfully, director Akiva Schaffer's "Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers" falls into the former of those categories. The film gets its name from the '90s cartoon TV show in which...

Since separating from Channing Tatum in April, Jenna Dewan has put a cheery spin on the end of their nine-year marriage. “I feel I’ve been on a wave of growth,” Jenna said recently. “It’s Ok for a relationship to change into a new form that is actually better for both people involved, and I think that’s maybe what shocked everyone so much — that it can be a positive thing.” But it's apparently not so positive anymore. The Green Goblin, The Kingpin, and The Prowler. Will the new animated movie suffer the three villain syndrome? Spider-man 3 suffered from this, but I’m confident that this animated film will succeed where its live-action counterparts failed. Well, after seemingly endless speculation, a source close to the production now tells EW that a small, uncredited Depp cameo does indeed look likely to happen. No details are available yet on what character Depp might play in the film, which begins shooting this month with Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum in the lead roles. Law & Order: Criminal Intent has become the first off-network drama series to be sold as a strip in broadcast syndication since 2001.
NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution said Thursday that it has cleared the show on Fox owned-and-operated stations in several major markets -- including Los Angeles, New York and Chicago -- for a fall 2007 launch. The terms of the two-year deals call for a straight 50-50 barter split, with one run per day.
7th Heaven had been the most recent off-net drama to be sold to broadcast stations as a strip. Moreover, it has been 14 years -- since 21 Jump Street -- since an off-net crime drama has been available on a weekday basis, according to the distributor. The more recent model has been to sell off-network dramas as strips in basic cable and to stations for weekend runs.
"In a marketplace where we're selling (one-hour) shows like 'House' and 'Monk' as a weekend traditional concept, we were meeting with broadcast partners who were talking about our great shows and saying they wish they were available on a Monday-Friday basis -- that got us thinking," said Sean O'Boyle, senior vp and general sales manager at NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution. "There's always a need from the local broadcasters for quality content, and we're able to provide it for them."
Frank Cicha, senior vp programming at Fox Television Stations, said the show can work in several time periods, depending on the market -- including late-night, early fringe and even daytime -- and noted that the nonserialized nature of the series allows it to repeat well.
