The Straw Hat Pirates are in the final moments of their journey. They are currently on Egghead Island and slowly reaching towards the One Piece treasure. However, as they travel to the next phase of their journey, they are probably going to need new power-ups that could help them defeat the impending villains who are waiting for them.
Strawhat Pirates in One Piece | Toei Animation
Most of the Straw Hats have received their power-ups, with the Devil Fruit users getting their abilities awakened. Luffy has got Gear 5 mode, Brook already got his awakening after the time skip, and Robin recently awakened her Devil Fruit during the Wano arc. Now the only Devil Fruit user who has yet to awaken is Chopper, the doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates.
Although there have been no hints about Chopper going through an awakening, there are theories that explain what Chopper’s awakening would...

There are many places in which Guillermo del Toro’s expertise shines. Whether it be with science fiction or something with a layer of gore in it, if the filmmaker has a hand in a project’s making, there is no doubt that it is going to be splendid. It is not just that he has the liberty of genres but also of mediums.
Guillermo del Toro | image: Instagram/@gdtreal
The filmmaker has shown his artistic prowess through live-action films, Hellboy films and then some. He has also proved time and again that animation as a stylistic choice only opens more doors for him. However, his influence from anime is where things get more interesting. Del Toro’s Pacific Rim drew inspiration from Neon Genesis Evangelion. So it is clear that his love for anime was integral to his growth.

Legacy U.S. shows such as The Office and Friends remain popular in Asia, but interest in American content is on the wane in the region, a new study shows.
Media Partners Asia (MPA)’s latest report show U.S. content maintained a lead among SVOD users, with 60% viewing it in Q1 of 2024, ahead of Korean titles (56%) and Japanese originals (48%). However, the figure for U.S. content was 70% two years ago in the same period, highlighting how local content, especially in Korea and Japan, are driving viewing.
Notably, in Korea, engagement with U.S. content was just 9%. In Japan, it was 11%. Conversely, engagement was up at 69% in English-speaking Australia and relatively strong in Southeast Asia (32%). Despite the low engagement, MPA Lead Analyst Dhivya T said that “even in highly local markets such as Korea, Japan and Indonesia, U.S. content drove 15-30% of SVOD customer acquisition.”

Study: U.S. Films, Series Remain Most Powerful Content Category for Global Streamers in Asia Pacific
Even in challenged times, no national entertainment industry can flex quite like Hollywood. According to new research from regional advisory group Media Partners Asia, U.S. films and series remain the most important content category for global streamers when it comes to customer acquisition and engagement across the Asia Pacific region — regardless of the way platforms continue to ramp up their local-language offerings in these territories.
In the first quarter of 2024, U.S. content was viewed by 60 percent of subscription video users in nine major markets — Australia, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand — outperforming Korean titles (at 56 percent) and Japanese content (48 percent), according to new research from regional analysts Media Partners Asia (MPA). The report’s authors noted, however, that U.S. content’s reach has begun to wane in recent years.

Even though the manga industry is growing and expanding globally, there is one issue that popular mangas like Vinland Saga, Jujutsu Kaisen, and One Piece have been facing, and it has caused a lot of hindrance for the creators, editors, and publishers. The issue is the pirating of these mangas through different mediums.
Vinland Saga | Wit Studios
Piracy is one of the biggest crimes in the digital world, as it not only undermines the hard work and dedication of the creators who put their sweat and tears into their lives’s work, but it also affects them financially. Many third-party websites and social media accounts illegally share their content for free, which affects the overall sales of the manga.
While the entire manga industry criticizes and protests against piracy, the editor of Vinland Saga has a controversial opinion that may not be liked by his publishers but would make him a fan favorite.

U.S-produced film and TV content has maintained leadership in terms of reach among Subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) users in nine major markets in Asia-Pacific. And it remains important for acquiring and maintaining subscriptions, a new report finds.
New research from consultancy firm Media Partners Asia is based on passively-collected data from 40,000 digital users amassed by its Ampd sister company. Territories covered include Australia, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand, from May 2023 to April 2024.
American content was viewed by 60% of the monitored users in the first quarter of this year. That put it ahead of Korean shows, watched by 56% in the region, and Japanese, watched by 48%.

The Will of D has been confusing One Piece fans for decades. Eiichiro Oda has been tight-lipped about the secret behind this initial and has gradually built it up to surround it with mystery.
But who knows the actual meaning of the initial? Why does the World government try to censor anyone who carries the name? A One Piece theory attempts to explain it all.
Does Eiichiro Oda Refer to the Joy Boy Pirate Crew by the Will of D? Gol D. Roger Laughing | Toei Animation
According to a theory named the One Piece “Family Theory“, the Will of D actually refers to the strongest pirates to ever exist. Every pirate crew has a name, for example, the Roger Pirates, Straw Hats, the Heart Pirates, and so on and so forth. So what if the Will of the D is actually deferred from a pirate crew as well?

The One Piece adaptation has managed to shine brighter than any other live-action adaptation of an anime. The accuracy and attention to detail put in the making of the show have brought about a certain sense of familiarity while also introducing the series to a fresh and new audience at the exact same time.
From the incredible cast to the dedicated respect for the original work, Eiichiro Oda’s manga and anime were in good hands with the Netflix adaptation.

The first season, on its own, managed to capture the audience with the heavy tones that mixed with Luffy’s goofiness. The show has worked hard on not only bringing the fan favorite characters to life but also to improve them in many ways, the biggest example being Taz Skylar’s Sanji. This accuracy is only increasing with another character.

Reminiscent of the outsized Chinese box office success once enjoyed by a certain genre of Hollywood movie – think “Expendables 3,” Pacific Rim” and “Transformers: Age of Extinction” – some Japanese anime films are now earning more in China than they are in their native Japan.
Last year, “Suzume” (pictured above) earned $117 million in China, coming in ahead of the film’s $104 million total in Japan.
And this year, Oscar winner “The Boy and the Heron,” despite its late release in China, enjoyed Middle Kingdom gross revenues of $109 million, dwarfing that of Japan, where the film was received more tepidly and earned only $57 million.
The scale of the China theatrical market has occasionally thrown up other examples of outsized success — in 2016, “Dangal” earned $190 million in China, compared with its already huge $77 million in India; the same year “Bad Genius” earned $41 million in China, compared with its $3.3 million in its native Thailand; Luc Besson...

Since the beginning of One Piece, the one character that fans believe has been underestimated the most is Vinsmoke Sanji, the cook of the Straw Hat Pirates and one of the wings of the Future Pirate King. Things were looking far from good for the studios responsible for bringing some of the best animes to life. There is no doubt that Mappa is a genius at what they do. Each and every anime coming out from their production is a cinematic masterpiece worth fawning over. However, the cost isn’t worth it. That much was made clear with the many people willing to come forward. One such person was Vincent Chansard.

Spoiler Alert!Spoilers ahead for those that have not read One Piece chapter 1078 and beyond!
Ever since One Piece started the second part of the story (after the time skip), the filler episodes and arcs have been reduced quite a lot. The last filler arc that One Piece fans received was the Marine Rookie Arc during the Whole Cake Island saga in 2017. Since then, there have been a few filler episodes, but they contain canonical events.
One Piece | Toei Animation
Earlier, these filler episodes and arcs were used by Toei Animation to maintain a mandatory gap between the narrative of the anime and manga. However, since the Wano arc, One Piece creators decided that instead of using fillers, they would adapt one chapter (or sometimes even less than one) for the anime to maintain the gap.
Although this may help the story stay canon, it stretches the narrative unnecessarily. Also,...

Imu – One Piece | Toei Animation

He has portraits of Lily in his most personal space, the Chamber of Flowers, and he is hellbent on kidnapping Vivi. Since the beginning of the Egghead Island arc in One Piece, each revelation made by Dr. Vegapunk may have unlocked new mysteries, but it has also introduced new questions for One Piece fans. The biggest question among all of this is why Joy Boy and the First Twenty Nations got into a battle that not only destroyed the Great Kingdom but also made it a forbidden subject.
Joy Boy Strawhat in One Piece | Toei Animation
In the latest chapters, Vegapunk not only revealed that one of the Ancient Weapons was used to destroy the Lulusia Kingdom with the help of the Mother Flame that was stolen from him, but he also talked about how Joy Boy possessed all three of the Ancient Weapons and wanted to give them to the future generations of One Piece.

Monkey D. Luffy, the protagonist of One Piece, has come a long way since being discovered inside a barrel by the Alvida Pirates to become one of the Emperors of the Sea. However, his challenges are not finished yet. Right now, he is fighting the battle of his and his crewmates’ lives against the Five Elders from the World Government.
The Five Elders | Viz Media
The main problem is that he has used almost every power in his arsenal, but he has not been able to lay a single attack on the World Government. Their regenerative powers make it impossible for Luffy to land an attack that could hurt them for good. He certainly needs a new power-up that could tackle the regenerative abilities of the Five Elders.

The recent chapters of the Egghead Island arc in One Piece have established a connection between Saint Nerona Imu, the main protagonist of the series, and Nefertari D. Lily, Vivi’s ancestor and the former queen of Alabasta. However, nothing is known about the connection except for what has been revealed by Imu himself.
Lily’s Portrait in Imu’s Room | Viz Media
The latest chapter put a special focus on this connection, as Eiichiro Oda included a separate panel where Imu is looking at a large portrait of Lily in the Chamber of Flowers. Imu has been seen holding Lily and Vivi’s (who looks exactly like Lily) portrait multiple times, and fans have yet to find out what kind of relationship Imu and Lily had.

In the latest One Piece chapter, Vegapunk revealed that Joy Boy had meant to pass down the Ancient Weapons to the next generation. He also added that because of this reason, he could no longer tell if Joy Boy was a good or bad entity.
Afterall, why would anyone in their right mind want to pass down deadly weapons unless they want to continue the trend of violence? Yet, a theory states that Joy Boy’s intentions were the exact opposite.
Why did Joy Boy Want to Pass Down the Ancient Weapons?
Caribou Talking About Ancient Weapons To Blackbeard Pirates | Viz Media
Any kind of machinery is a tool with no good or evil intentions. The Ancient Weapons are feared because they are in the hands of an exploitative and oppressive World Government. However, in the hands of those who want to protect the world, they could turn into something else altogether.

Eiichiro Oda has repeatedly played the traitor trope in One Piece. The betrayals come at the most unexpected times, and it never matters how tightly knit the group previously was. This leads to the question: Are all the Gorosei serving Imu inherently evil?
The Straw Hats have been battling against the Five Elders relentlessly and need every possible bit of help available.
Eiichiro Oda is Setting up the Gorosei to Have a Traitor The Gorosei in action | One Piece Viz Media
Firstly, let’s discuss the recurrent theme of betrayal in One Piece. Almost every group of villains and allies have had a traitor amongst them. For example, Kanjuro amongst the Scabbards, X Drake from the Beast Pirates, Capone Bege among the Big Mom pirates, and many more.
This theme has only become stronger in the Egghead Island arc with Stussy abandoning the Cipher Pol, because her loyalty lies with Vegapunk.

An anime series as big as One Piece has a habit of introducing extra narratives to keep a valid distance from the manga story. This helps the anime maintain a satisfying pace that would allow the anime to perfectly animate each episode. Most of these changes are usually done in the filler arcs, which don’t affect the story as much.

However, the One Piece anime’s modification to the Long Ring Long Land filler arc led to the disappointment of the fans. So much so that they even deemed the filler arc the most hated arc in the history of One Piece.
