Yeah..., but
12 oz. Mouse has been the crudest animation seen on Adult Swim to date, and the comedy may rely on the state of the viewer...
Yeah,.. but let's not over-think it. I find the show to be refreshing in the same way that Aqua Teen was also refreshing, however let us think of 12 oz. as taking the "genre" to the extreme. I find value in the primal nature of the cartoon as being enjoyable on a level that Harvey Birdman and Aqua Teen only hint at. It's as if 12 oz. Mouse reboots your brain. I am not a rabid fan, and no, I don't think that "Mouse" is the best in the lineup, but I think that its a show that demands not to be analyzed.
Sometimes it is simply best to view something only within the context of what it is, and not what else happens to appear before or after. 12 oz. Mouse is surely unlike anything I have ever seen before in that it does not feel that it owes anything to a certain context. Beyond its crude animation lies a certain ability to connect with nothing... in other words, it doesn't feel like it needs to meet my expectations. This allows me to sit back and take in what Matt and the other writer/creators are conveying without holding it to some preconceived standard. I like that. I think this particular brand of animation should not be held in comparison to a particular anything.
12. oz. Mouse is to be viewed in and of itself, and in that context I found myself laughing out loud.
