Sony‘s upcoming Ghosts of Tsushima adaptation could get some serious star power as rumors swirl about Shōgun actor Hiroyuki Sanada joining the cast. According to industry leaker @DanielRPK, Sanada is in talks to join the cast of the Chad Stahelski-directed action film with a screenplay by Takashi Doscher. While there’s no indication of who Sanada would play in the live-action movie, fans suspect Sanada could play Lord Shimura, the uncle of the game’s protagonist, Jin Sakai.
While this is not a confirmation of Hiroyuki Sanada’s involvement in the Ghosts of Tsushima movie, it wouldn’t be the first time the Japanese actor teamed up with Chad Stahelski for an action showcase of epic proportion. Sanda played Koji Shimazu, the manager of the Osaka branch of the Continental Hotel, in Stahelski’s John Wick: Chapter 4. The Crow: Brandon Lee’s stand-in Chad Stahelski supports the casting of Bill Skarsgard in the remake
Stuntman Chad Stahelski was close friends with actor Brandon Lee… and when Lee was killed in a tragic accident on the set of the 1994 version of The Crow, director Alex Proyas chose Stahelski to be Lee’s stand-in for the filming of scenes that still needed to be filmed involving Lee’s character Eric Draven. Lee’s face was then placed over Stahelski’s in post-production. Stahelski has gone on to become a director, taking the helm of each film in the John Wick franchise to date… and since he worked with Bill Skarsgard on John Wick: Chapter 4, it’s no surprise to hear that he supports the casting of Skarsgard in The Crow remake, which is set to reach theatres on August 23rd.

The Mad Max films by George Miller created a new revolution in cinema and cemented the director’s place as one of Hollywood’s most influential filmmakers alongside the likes of George Lucas who also pioneered an iconic franchise with Star Wars. Additionally, Reeves is a fan of cinema in general and Star Wars has been a seminal franchise for the actor like many during the time of the original trilogy.

Bill Skarsgård has established himself in Hollywood by playing sinister characters, but he'll take a crack at the anti-hero when The Crow is released later this summer.
The first images and trailer for the movie received a mixed-to-negative response from fans of the classic 1994 movie. Most of that boiled down to Skarsgård's Eric looking more like Jared Leto's Joker in 2016's Suicide Squad than Brandon Lee's iconic interpretation of the comic book character.
However, this isn't a remake, it's a reimagining of the original graphic novel by James O'Barr. And, while the character's appearance has split opinions, the R-Rated action looks undeniably badass.
Talking to Esquire (via FearHQ.com), the actor admits to being unsure about taking on The Crow's title role. "There's definitely worry about that," he says of fan expectations. "I'm trying to view the fame aspect as a challenge and navigate through it in...

Bill Skarsgård is following the legacy of his father and legendary Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård who appeared in MCU and the Dune franchise. Bill Skarsgard says audiences may not be ready to see him in Nosferatu. The actor said this week his role in Robert Eggers’ upcoming remake of the silent vampire film “took its toll.”
“It was like conjuring pure evil. It took a while for me to shake off the demon that had been conjured inside of me,” Skarsgard told Esquire.
Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror was a 1922 silent film directed by F. W. Murnau, which was an unauthorized adaptation of Dracula that later became a cult classic. Eggers’ remake of the pic is set for release this Christmas. Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, Simon McBurney and Willem Dafoe also star.
Skarsgard will play Count Orlok, the vampire antagonist. His costume and makeup have remained secret, but Skarsgard says he’s not sure audiences will recognize him. “He’s gross,” he said of the character. “But it is very sexualized.

A long-awaited video game adaptation now has new life. Universal Pictures has officially boarded the "Just Cause" movie, and the studio has some impressive talent behind the camera to make the project a reality. That starts with director Ángel Manuel Soto, best known for directing the DC superhero movie "Blue Beetle." The project has also added "The Fall Guy" director David Leitch and his producing partner (and wife) Kelly McCormick on board as producers with their company, 87North.
Universal has a longstanding relationship with Leitch, as the filmmaker made "Hobbs & Shaw" for the studio before stepping behind the camera for "The Fall Guy." He also very nearly directed the new "Jurassic World" film before Gareth Edwards took over. 87North has a first-look deal with the studio, so this partnership makes sense. Dmitri M. Lionsgate blew past Wall Street’s expectations for the March quarter, its fiscal fourth, on a few key metrics from revenue to adjusted Eps and operating income as library sales and ramped up content deliveries helped propel TV profits up by 83%. The numbers are the last to land this earnings season.
The studio business (motion picture and television production) saw revenue of close to $880 million, up 6.8% from the year earlier. Profit of about $135 million rose 10%.
Motion picture sales declined by 23% to $410.6 million and profit by 12% to $82.2 million on tough comps from John Wick: Chapter Four the year before.
Television production revenue surged 61% to $469 million on profit of $52.6 million – both driven by strength in library sales and an increase in post-strike content deliveries. The improvement was solid but a surprise.

Quarterly losses shrank at Lionsgate and revenues climbed as the company’s television business rebounded from the twin strikes that had shut down production for much of 2023.

Lionsgate also reported a net loss attributable to shareholder of $39.5 million, which compared favorably to the prior-year quarterly losses of $96.8 million. It recorded a loss of 22 cent per-share for the period. In the year-ago quarter, Lionsgate had per-share losses of 42 cents. Lionsgate’s revenues beat Wall Street estimates of $1.11 billion.
The earnings report comes after Lionsgate Studios debuted as a standalone public entity on May 14, trading as a single class of stock under the Nasdaq ticker symbol Lion — a step toward the full separation of its studio business and Starz. Through the merger...

The company could resort to a lawsuit to try and keep NBA rights, but if it loses them it will have an extra $1.2 billion per year to spend.
The ball is about to head to Warner Bros. Discovery’s court. The company could face a big decision in the coming days, as reports circulated Wednesday that the NBA is about to leave Wbd’s cable channel TNT in favor of a new broadcasting deal with Comcast and NBC starting in 2025. Wbd has a complex set of matching rights in its current contract, and could even try to sue to retain its NBA package, but if it does end up losing the Association, it will have to consider what to do with the $1.2 billion per season it has been paying the league since 2014, and the even more billions that it was planning in spending moving forward. Keanu Reeves is known for doing his own stunts to add authenticity to his many films. But at the same time, the actor wouldn’t call what he does ‘stunts.’
Keanu Reeves claimed he hasn’t ‘done any stunt work’ Keanu Reeves | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
Reeves might belong in the same category as his contemporary Tom Cruise when it comes to doing movie stunts. But Reeves disagreed with defining what he did as “stunts.” Instead, he preferred to call his sequences “physical acting.”
“I get to do some physical acting. I get involved in some action but they’re not stunts. I flip over guys, I get flipped, I run, I jump, I play,” Reeves said in a 2014 interview with IndieWire.
Even at an older age, Reeves didn’t shy away from doing his physical acting. Reeves quipped that his experience doing film stunts helped him keep up with the physicality of his action roles.

The Crow: Bill Skarsgård's Eric Draven Is Ready For A Fight In New Still From Rupert Sanders' Remake
Created by James O'Barr as a means of dealing with the death of his fiancée at the hands of a drunk driver, The Crow #1 was released in 1989 and became an instant classic. A big screen adaptation starring the late Brandon Lee followed in 1994 and it too is beloved.
As a result, the odds are already stacked against this summer's remake. Ghost in the Shell director Rupert Sanders is at the helm, while John Wick: Chapter 4 star Bill Skarsgård takes on the role of Eric Draven.
The response to the first trailer wasn't overly positive and the movie's take on the title character - which has replaced the iconic makeup with Joker-style face tattoos - has been similarly divisive. So, yeah, we expect The Crow to struggle when it swoops into theaters in August.
Now, we have a new look at Skarsgård's transformation and it looks like Eric is ready for a fight.

Pure intentions never come a long way when it comes to achieving stardom in Hollywood. John Wick star John Leguizamo seems to understand that but while the actor may hold a cynical view of the industry due to time spent behind the curtains, there exist some things (perhaps a movie role or odd jobs to pay oneʼs way through surviving as a struggling artist) that he imagines as simply being too awkward to be uttered in public.

Such a protective cushion frequently comes into use when the actor brings up his fellow co-stars in the industry and serves to spill some tea about their roles that some still view as divisive beyond reproach.

The John Wick franchise has, in addition to Keanu Reeves’ titular character, given fans multiple stellar characters to be nostalgic about. While the latest iteration ended with Wick seemingly dying at the steps of the Basilica of Sacré Coeur, Donnie Yen’s character has recently received a spinoff, which is set to continue the story of Caine.
Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 4. | Lionsgate
Yen played a blind assassin in John Wick: Chapter 4, with the spinoff expected to delve into his story following the events of the movie. Regardless, the actor also played an equally memorable role in the 206-released Rogue One, the first installment of the Star Wars anthology series. The movie saw Yen play another badass blind character in the form of Chirrut Imwe, a warrior who believes in the force, and arguably deserves his own spinoff, just like John Wick’s Caine.

The John Wick Universe grows ever wider. Following the release of explosive quadrilogy closer John Wick: Chapter 4, last September fans were invited to check in to The Continental on Prime Video. And, in just a few short weeks, we’ll be seeing Ana de Armas bring a whole new meaning to bullet ballet in spin-off movie Ballerina. But Lionsgate aren’t done there. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Donnie Yen is set to reprise his role as blind assassin Caine in an upcoming standalone spin-off all of his own.

The John Wick franchise became a cultural phenomenon after the release of the first film in 2014. With its intricate characters, interconnected plotlines, and elaborate action sequences, the John Wick franchise has become one of the most popular action movie series of all time. There’s hardly a fan of action out there that doesn’t know the name of Keannu Revees’ famous assassin. The franchise is getting bigger as the years go by, and while the main series seems to be over, spin-off movies are planned, and we have just received information that a solo spin-off focusing on Donnie Yen’s character Caine is in the works and will start filming relatively soon!
In case you don’t remember, Yen’s character Caine is a blind assassin who was introduced to the fans in Chapter 4 of the series and was described as an old ally of John’s in the movie.

John Wick is undeniably one of the most successful franchises by director Chad Stahelski, and a major milestone for Keanu Reeves as well who is so loved in the role that fans can’t imagine anyone else as the titular character besides him. However, even before the first movie’s launch, someone had brutally negative thoughts and predictions on how it would turn out to be.
John Wick.
Surprisingly enough, this someone was none other than the mastermind Stahelski himself, who even predicted that the film would be such a massive failure that it would go “straight to video.” But what’s even more stunning than the filmmaker’s own predictions on his blockbuster saga was the fact that Reeves was never supposed to lead the franchise the way he ended up doing!

Could the John Wick universe be poised to introduce an assassin even more formidable than the legendary Baba Yaga (Keanu Reeves) himself? Well, it seems the possibility is high since the acclaimed action franchise is expanding again with Donnie Yen’s enigmatic character, Caine, the blind master of lethality. For the unversed, he was introduced to us in John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023).

The John Wick universe continues to grow, with Donnie Yen to get his own spin-off. The film will continue the adventures of his character, Caine.
Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski, star and director of the popular John Wick series, may be taking a well-earned break from the franchise, but that isn’t stopping Lionsgate from finding ways to keep the good ship Wick on its journey to box office dollars.
There’s the TV prequel spin-off, The Continental, which has already released, not to mention Ballerina, the recently-delayed spin-off movie that will feature Ana de Armas as an assassin who looks to have graduated from the same killing school that taught John Wick himself.
Gird yourself for more stories from the John Wick universe, though, as it’s been announced by Lionsgate (thanks Dark Horizons) that Donnie Yen’s Caine character will also be getting a spin-off film. It will...

Donnie Yen isn’t done with his role as the blind assassin Caine from John Wick: Chapter 4 quite yet.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the veteran Hong Kong action star will return in a spinoff picking up with his character being freed of his obligations to the High Table after the final events of John Wick 4.
“Working on John Wick: Chapter 4 was an extraordinary experience. The reason these films resonate so deeply is because, like myself, Chad, Basil, and Erica push themselves to create action, fights, and stunts that are not only thrilling, inventive, and artistic, but also expressive of character, story, and emotion,” Yen said in a statement. “Caine is an incredible character with a haunted past, and I am excited to return to the role.”
No further details have been confirmed, but there’s a good chance the plot could center around Akira’s (Rina Sawayama...

Lionsgate is expanding the billion-dollar John Wick franchise as the studio is developing a film for Donnie Yen to reprise his role in a new film centered around Caine, his character from John Wick: Chapter 4, to begin production in Hong Kong next year.
While the logline is being kept under wraps, the new film will continue Yen’s story arc following the events of John Wick: Chapter 4, as Caine has been freed from his obligations to the High Table.
The new film was developed as part of Chad Stahelski’s recently announced deal with Lionsgate overseeing the expansion of the John Wick universe and will be shepherded by the franchise producers, Thunder Road’s Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, and Stahelski, who produces through his 87Eleven Entertainment production banner.

Lionsgate is developing a John Wick spinoff movie around Donnie Yen’s Caine assassin character.
Yen will reprise his John Wick: Chapter 4 role in the untitled project set to shoot in Hong Kong in 2025. The franchise expanding film, with no director yet announced, will follow the events of John Wick 4 as Caine has been freed from his obligations to the High Table.
The project also follows Yen, a veteran Hong Kong action hero, pushing back against what he claimed were Asian stereotypes in the original script for John Wick 4. After some prodding, John Wick 4 director Chad Stahelski agreed to change the name and clothes for Yen’s character.
China-born Yen is a household name internationally thanks to his hugely popular and acclaimed Ip Man movie series, and he has crossed over to Hollywood with outings in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which grossed over a billion dollars,...
