Not Dead Yet was abruptly canceled after its second season, and we won't see the continuation of the fate of Nell, played by Gina Rodriguez, who can see the ghosts of those she writes obituaries for. It was a life-affirming project with a charming lead that didn't waste time setting up the plot and hit the ground running once the characters were introduced.
But all good things must come to an end, which is sad, because sometimes they end before their time. If two seasons of Not Dead Yet weren't enough for you, then we have the perfect replacement – and the main thing that connects these two projects is Gina Rodriguez in the lead role.

Tyler Posey’s run as Beacon Hills resident in Teen Wolf came to an end in 2017, but it’s hard to forget the actor’s all too lovable role as Scott McCall. The character still lives on in the hearts of diehard fans and fan-fiction. The recent Teen Wolf: The Movie, released in 2023, is a living proof of the show’s success and relevance even today. Besides Posey’s fan-favorite role as McCall, he’s also well known for other projects such as Truth Or Dare, Jane The Virgin, The Last Summer, Alone, and his voice acting role in Fast & Furious Spy Racers.

A major contributing factor to the show’s success was the eclectic Jane the Virgin cast. In retrospect, it’s hard to see any other actor who could have done justice to the characters as the cast did. With its success, Jane the Virgin became The CW’s first TV show to earn a Golden Globe nomination. Jane the Virgin premiered 10 years ago on October 13, 2014, as an American romantic comedy-drama and satirical telenovela. Like its name, Jane the Virgin centered around 23-year-old Jane Gloriana Villanueva, a religious Latina virgin who got pregnant by an accidental artificial insemination by her doctor

Jenna Ortega is undoubtedly one of Hollywood's most talented rising stars. The actress was involved in some pretty big projects as a child, then gained recognition for her performance as young Jane in Jane the Virgin, for her starring role in Disney's Stuck in the Middle and her participation in Netflix's You. Now we know Ortega as the new Scream Queen, the new Wednesday, and a great dramatic actress with a lot of interesting movies coming up in the next few years.
However, Jenna Ortega's latest feature film role is not her most successful to say the least. And it's not even about the actress' performance, she doesn't deserve such a badly written character and script.
We are talking about the erotic thriller Miller's Girl, in which Ortega starred alongside none other than Martin Freeman. Unfortunately, the movie was panned by critics and audiences alike and flopped at the box office.

Sex is a lot like filmmaking. You dive in when you’re ready, trust your companions, and learn from experience. Few people start out as experts, but there’s beauty in being allowed to try and fail in different environments over the years.
In her first feature film lead, comedian and former late night host Lilly Singh plays Maya, a computer engineer who takes a part-time job teaching sex education. After an incident in her teens led to her mother moving them back to India, Maya not only repressed her sexuality but grew to actively fear it — and now she’s teaching teens about sex despite having never done it herself. Singh, Neel Patel, and director Sara Zandieh co-wrote the film, which premiered at SXSW on March 12.
Sonia Dhillon Tully plays Maya’s hyperconservative single mother Veena, a role that has unfortunately been tread and retread in the South Asian-American film ouevre.

Editor’s note: The following article contains spoilers for Marvel’s “Echo” on Disney+.
Charlie Cox’s Daredevil appears in the very first episode of “Echo” on Disney+, and he’s instantly forgettable.
That’s not an indictment of the character Cox originated in “Marvel’s Daredevil” on Netflix, now resurrected for the MCU, but an endorsement of the scene around him; a one-shot combat sequence in which Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) eventually kills one of her opponents and marks Daredevil as an enemy.
The scene is striking enough on-screen, but also a key moment in how various teams intent on getting “Echo” right came together — the writing, the stunts, the direction, and an overarching sensitivity to a deaf character’s point of view.

We’re finally saying farewell to 2023 and kicking off a whole new year of movies. Though the box office remains all over the place, with presumably guaranteed blockbusters failing to take off and “Barbie” becoming a cultural juggernaut, 2023 gave us a lot of theatrical surprises.
But what does 2024 have in store? Right off the bat, sequels. A lot of sequels! Intellectual property remains the lay of the land and there will be plenty of continuations. Tim Burton will take us back to 1988 with his “Beetlejuice” sequel while Ridley Scott will return us to ancient Rome with “Gladiator 2.” We’ll also be getting a slew of potential franchise films. Jon M. Chu takes us back to Oz with “Wicked: Part 1” and Denis Villeneuve returns to the spice-riddled world of Arrakis with the highly anticipated follow-up to “Dune.” And don’t forget the “Mean Girls” musical.

Hollywood veteran Edward James Olmos once offered a piece of sage advice to Eva Longoria in the 1990s when she was an extra on the set of “Selena” in her hometown of Corpus Christie, Texas. “Move to LA,” he told the young actress.
More than 20 years later, Olmos presented Longoria’s feature directorial debut “Flamin’ Hot” with the award for Best Feature Film at the 38th annual Imagen Awards, which celebrate the wide ranging talents of Hollywood’s Latino community.
At Los Angeles’ historic Biltmore Hotel on Dec. 3, “Flamin’ Hot” swept the final three awards of the ceremony as Jesse García won best actor – feature film and Longoria won best director – feature film. During her acceptance speech, Longoria acknowledged how Olmos and others present in the audience, including George Lopez, helped to shape her career.

It’s an interesting month ahead on Hulu, as the streamer rolls out some of the series it’s been keeping in its back pocket for the holiday season.
On December 15, the first season of Such Brave Girls will arrive. The sitcom follows a dysfunctional family – and we mean dysfunctional! – that includes real-life sisters Kat Sadler and Lizzie Davidson. British comedian Sadler has previously written for The News Quiz, Hypothetical, and Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable, but this is her first big TV project. “Everything we joke about in the show is from a place of lived experience,” she told Funny Women. “I wish I could say this is a heart-warming show about overcoming trauma, but that would be a lie. It’s about three toxic, damaged egomaniacs manipulating the world and each other for their own personal gain, vengeance and glory…just like in Little Women.” Sounds good!

Jenna Ortega is only 21, but her bank balance exceeds our expected lifetime earnings! She rose to fame with her role in Jane The Virgin, but it was Netflix’s Wednesday that earned her worldwide recognition! Scroll below for a detailed analysis of her net worth in 2023.
It would be safe to say that Jenna has joined the league of Millie Bobby Brown, Billie Eilish, and other young artists who’ve achieved milestones at such a young age. Many wouldn’t know, but she made her film debut with a small role in Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man 3 (2013). Clearly, there was no going back, as she’s been a part of some famous movies like the Scream franchise, The Fallout, and Insidious: Chapter 2, among others.

Haley Lu Richardson has a number of popular works under her belt. The 28-year-old star launched her acting career in the early 2010s, landing one of her first roles in the Disney Channel sitcom "Shake It Up," alongside Zendaya and Bella Thorne. The exposure from "Shake It Up" helped open the doors for Richardson to take on other film and TV projects throughout the mid-2010s, including the films "The Edge of Seventeen" and M. Night Shyamalan's "Split," as well as shows like "Ravenswood" and "Recovery Road." Most notably, Richardson starred as Portia in season two of HBO's acclaimed series "The White Lotus." She also portrayed Hadley Sullivan in the Netflix rom-com "Love at First Sight," which hit the streamer on Sept. 15.
When she isn't working, Richardson keeps her personal life out of the spotlight. The actor has only publicly dated one person: former "Jane the Virgin" star Brett Dier.

Suzanne Somers’ death on Oct. 15 ensures a Three’s Company reboot would be impossible. It would have been unlikely before the starlet’s death, but Somers wasn’t against the idea. Now, though, there is just a single member of the original main cast that is still alive. That makes us immeasurably sad.

“Jane the Virgin” star Jaime Camil is bringing the popular Mexican bingo game, lotería, to prime time television as host of CBS’ new game show “Lotería Loca.” While the unscripted series celebrates the game with heightened stakes and larger-than-life game pieces, Camil says he and co-creator Jeff Apploff were careful “not to stereotype” Mexican culture along the way.
“The set designer, Jeff and I really worked not to stereotype Mexicans or my culture,” Camil told TheWrap ahead of the series premiere on Monday. “We didn’t want the set to look like a waiting area at a Señor Frog’s when you go to spring break and [see] wet T-shirt contests — we didn’t want the set to look like that.”
Instead, Camil recommended that Apploff and the set designer visit Mexico’s Pueblos Mágicos — towns that have been dubbed “magical villages” by Mexico’s Secretariat of Tourism — as inspiration for the “Lotería Loca” set.

Jaime Camil is fulfilling a longtime dream of bringing a beloved Mexican game to American audiences. He will host and executive produce the upcoming new CBS series Lotería Loca, premiering Monday, Oct. 2 at 9 p.m.
“Lotería has been around for around 400 years and it’s played by 40 million people every day. It’s a ‘must have’ game for many Latin American families. It’s like Bingo and we’ve changed it up a little for television purposes,” Camil tells Deadline. An exclusive look at how the TV version will be played can be found in the video above.
He continued, “We made some adjustments and now it’s more like Bingo but without forgetting the heritage of the [original game]. We also made the characters on the cards fun and animated; they come alive. Each card also has a monetary value, which is different from the original game.”

“Ahsoka” is quietly going down as one of the best pieces of “Star Wars” content we’ve had in years alongside “Andor.” Playing largely as a live-action fifth season of the cherished animated series “Rebels,” this Disney+’s hit takes place after “Return of the Jedi” when the Galactic Empire has fallen. However, all is not as well in the galaxy as it might seem as former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano begins to uncover a plot to re-introduce the Empire into a galaxy still finding its feet amidst a new order.
A large part of the show’s success should be attributed to Rosario Dawson, who plays Ahsoka as wise, calm, and assured in the face of so much uncertainty and chaos. Dawson brings to life this live-action version of Ahsoka with maturity, sophistication, and a deftness of touch that befits the character’s arc from bratty youth in the...

There are movies for children, and then there are childish movies. The latest directorial venture of American director Robert Rodriguez titled Spy Kids: Armageddon seems to be way more tilted towards the latter type. Rodriguez has his own niche in filmmaking. He started with the Mexican milieu that he knew so well and made films such as El Mariachi and Desperado, and later went on to direct cult classics such as From Dusk Till Dawn and his masterpiece Sin City. His films are so different from one another that one look at his IMDb page will tell us that he isn’t interested in telling similar stories. Yet he seems to have a strong affinity with the Spy Kids universe. He directed the first one in 2001 and then made three more sequels in the coming years, with the last one being released in 2011. He has now returned with the fifth installment,...

However, the good news is that Netflix is on its way to release a reboot of this famous franchise, naming it Spy Kids: Armageddon. Helmed by the creator of the original franchise, Robert Rodriguez, this Netflix film is all set to evoke nostalgia by offering us a wonderful experience through these mischievous kids and their worried parents. The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute has brought in veteran TV casting executive as Head of Talent, a newly created position focused on transitioning the Institute’s students to becoming professional actors in film and TV.
Theodoratos spent the last 20 years at the CW and its predecessor Upn, most recently as EVP of Talent & Casting, overseeing casting for the CW. She was part of the mass layoffs last fall following the CW’s acquisition by Nexstar and its pivot away from original scripted series developed in-house.
In her new role, Theodoratos will produce an annual talent showcase — a staple of college acting programs to present their talent to agents, managers, casting directors and executives — and will oversees the development of a casting database of the Institute’s top talent to put forth to the casting community. Theodoratos will also spearhead an industry-wide professional guest speaker series focused on actors and casting for the Institute,...

Jaime Camil is gearing up to host CBS’ upcoming game show “Lotería Loca,” but rolling the project out during the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes has been “awkward.”
“It’s super awkward and super difficult,” Camil told TheWrap in an interview ahead of the October 2 release of “Lotería Loca.” “I’ve joined a picket line with my WGA brothers three or four times now [and] I’ve gone to several picket lines of the SAG-AFTRA strike. I really hope they find a solution — not a quick solution — but a fair solution.”
“Lotería Loca,” which expands the popular Mexican version of bingo, is covered under the Network Code, which also covers talk shows and game shows as well as sports, meaning that Camil can film and promote the CBS show without breaking any strike rules.
“It’s a high-energy packed show, with twists and turns, physical challenges and lots of money — $1 million...
