The makeup effects work on this Halloween season’s Terrifier 3 is complete, director Damien Leone has announced in a social media post this week that’s full of praise for the contributions from Christien Tinsley and his team at Tinsley Studio. The award-winning makeup effects studio is handling all the insane gore in the upcoming slasher sequel, and Leone promises that the bar for Terrifier violence is going to be raised even higher come October 11, 2024.
How is that even possible, you ask?! Leone writes on Instagram, “That’s a wrap on our incredible makeup FX team (@tinsleymua). It was scary relinquishing the makeup FX on Terrifier 3 to another team since me and @pjfalcone did mainly all of the FX work on part 1 & 2. Art the Clown is coming to ruin your Disney memories... well, sort of.
According to a new exclusive from Variety, Terrifier star David Howard Thornton, who plays the larger-than-life yet absolutely terrifying killer clown, will next star in Screamboat, a horror comedy in which Disney's earliest iteration of Mickey Mouse becomes the stuff of nightmares.
On January 1, 2024, the classic 1928 animated short film Steamboat Willie entered the public domain. Not long after that, multiple projects were announced featuring the 1928 version of Mickey becoming the latest childhood character to morph into a horror villain.
Screamboat follows "a late-night ferry ride that turns deadly when a mischievous mouse begins a rampage, targeting unsuspecting passengers."
Steven Lamorte, who produced Terrifier 2, will direct the film. Lamorte previously dabbled in this kind of parody material with The Mean One, which also starred Thornton. The Mean One is a Christmas horror film loosely based on the iconic Dr. Seuss story,...

On January 1st, the earliest versions of Mickey Mouse – seen in the animated shorts Plane Crazy, The Gallopin’ Gaucho, and most famously Steamboat Willie – became public domain… which, of course, means we’re now going to get multiple horror movies that feature characters inspired by Mickey Mouse. Within the first three days of the year, we saw the short film The Vanishing of S.S. Willie, a trailer for the slasher movie Mickey’s Mouse Trap, and an announcement that Terrifier 2 producers Steven Della Salla and Michael Leavy and director Steven Lamorte, who previously made the Grinch-inspired horror movie The Mean One, were teaming up for a Steamboat Willie-inspired horror flick that we now know is titled Screamboat. David Howard Thornton plays Art the Clown in the Terrifier films and brought the horror version of the Grinch to life in The Mean One, so it’s no surprise that...

May comes to a close with a quieter weekend full of odds and ends and nothing particularly wide in terms of studio releases. Read on for Gold Derby’s box office preview.
After a fairly disappointing Memorial Day weekend, the month ends with a number of moderately wide releases. Since most of these new films are smaller, few theater counts have been reported, making it tougher to determine how some of them might perform, though it’s likely that only one will be getting a wide enough release to potentially break into the Top 5. Otherwise, we’re looking at a repeat of the Top 4 with the slightest chance that “The Garfield Movie” might pass “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” with few of the new releases targeting family audiences.
The one movie that has the best chance at cracking the Top 5 would probably be Crunchyroll’s latest Anime feature “Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle,...

Legendary special effects artist Tom Savini provided the blood and gore for such horror classics as Martin, Dawn of the Dead, Maniac, Friday the 13th, The Burning, The Prowler, Creepshow, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, Day of the Dead, and more – and he’s also an actor, having delivered memorable roles in Knightriders and From Dusk Till Dawn, among others. Now our friends at Bloody Disgusting have confirmed that Savini will be making an appearance in writer/director Damien Leone’s supernatural slasher sequel Terrifier 3, which will be receiving a North American theatrical release on October 11th!
Details on the role Savini will be playing were not revealed.
Leone had a budget of around $55,000 to work with on his breakout horror film Terrifier, and a budget of “a little over” $250,000 for Terrifier 2, which was a massive hit when it was released last year, earning $15.1 million at the box office.

Art the Clown is making his return to theaters nationwide with Terrifier 3 on October 11, 2024, and Bloody Disgusting can confirm that a horror legend has joined the slasher sequel.
Makeup effects master Tom Savini will be making an appearance in director Damien Leone’s Terrifier 3, which Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting are bringing to the big screen!
Tom Savini’s work has long been a huge source of inspiration for Leone, whose Terrifier movies are of course loaded with the kind of practical effects-driven brutality that Savini helped pioneer. Unlike big-budget blockbusters that often depend on famous faces or explosive (and expensive) set pieces to draw audiences into the theater, the horror genre has been thriving for decades with no-name actors, shoestring budgets, and still pulling in huge profits thanks to a quality idea that audiences want to see. If the characters in the film are more than likely not going to make it to the end credits, there's no need to shell out the dough for a household name when they're just going to be killed off.
Fortunately, horror films also frequently inspire unprovoked reactions from audiences that work better than any marketing campaign ever could. A24 struck gold when audience members were reportedly fainting during preview screenings of "Talk to Me," which certainly helped skyrocket the film's popularity and contributed to it becoming the production company's highest-grossing horror film, ever, even surpassing Ari Aster's "Hereditary."

Shudder and IFC Film are on a roll. Their release, Late Night With the Devil, wracked up a truly impressive $10 million gross at the domestic box office this winter, despite only being in limited release and only playing during a short window before its streaming debut. They’re also getting a lot of fresh critical attention for Caitlin Cronenberg’s debut, Humane (check out our interview with the director here). Horror fans love Shudder (including us), and sure enough, it looks like they might have another big winner on their hands with the violent slasher flick In a Violent Nature.

Writer/director Damien Leone's "Terrifier" duology is about to become a fully-fledged trilogy this October, when "Terrifier 3" will be unleashed into theaters. On paper, three indie horror movies doesn't feel like the backbone of a huge franchise, but the "Terrifier" series, its characters, and iconography have caught on in a big way. To be fair, the vicious and mysterious killer at the center of the saga, Art the Clown, has appeared in a few more films than just the main "Terrifier" trilogy, as his first appearance was in the "Terrifier" short from 2011, leading to a feature-length role in Leone's Halloween anthology "All Hallows' Eve" from 2013.
So when you add all of that up, the creepy, disconcertingly buoyant murderous clown has been around for over a decade now, allowing a plethora of "Terrifier" t-shirts, posters, action figures, and other merchandise to pop up over the years. It certainly...

A good movie monster never stays down for very long, and Art the Clown is set to return for another blood-soaked killing spree a little earlier than expected.
Despite being "killed" in extremely gruesome fashion at the end of both previous movies, the seemingly immortal murderer will dust himself off and get back to doing what he does best in Damien Leone's Terrifier 3, and we have a new look at the sadistic mime in a first official promo image.
In addition, Deadline has announced that the horror threequel has moved its release date forward by two weeks, and will now arrive in theaters on October 11.
“We’re so excited to bring the next Terrifier to theaters this fall just in time for the Halloween season,” said franchise producer Phil Falcone. “Terrifier 3 will deliver everything the fans expect and more with Art the Clown taking things to the next level.

After delivering two of the most gleefully violent slasher films of the modern age, Damein Leone is in an intense competition with himself. The writer/director's "Terrifier" debuted in 2016, introducing David Howard Thornton as Art the Clown, a murderous, seemingly invincible psychopath who went on a blood-soaked Halloween rampage so brutal that it put some of the greatest slasher killers in cinema history to shame. Leone then somehow managed to top that with 2022's bigger, weirder, and bloodier, "Terrifier 2." The sequel was so savage that it prompted horror specialist Mike Flannagan to come up with a whole new genre to describe it: the "MegaSlasher."
But "Terrifier 2" did more than celebrate unabashed ultra-violence. It made a decent amount of money, raking in $15.7 million, in fact, which isn't bad for a film that was made on a budget of $250,000. Naturally, a sequel was quickly greenlit, which presented a tantalizing prospect...

You know Art the Clown? The friendly neighborhood clown who attends children’s parties and brings smiles to their faces? Yeah, well, that’s not the Art we’re talking about. Art the Clown is the horrifying villain of the Terrifier franchise by Damien Leone, and he will soon appear in the upcoming Terrifier 3 movie, which is set to be released later this year. Today, we have finally received the first image from the movie, showing Art, and information that the release date is coming earlier than initially planned, on October 11, 2024.
The Terrifier franchise is a modern horror franchise, and while it hasn’t (yet) become a proper mainstream title, it has a devoted following and is definitely among the more popular horror franchises of the modern age, which is why fans of the genre and the series as a whole are eagerly awaiting the new movie’s premiere.

Two weeks ago, we learned that production had wrapped on writer/director Damien Leone’s Terrifier 3, which started filming back in February and was, at the time, aiming for an October 25th release date. Now Deadline reports that fans will have the chance to see this supernatural slasher sequel two weeks earlier than expected, as the North American theatrical release date has moved forward to October 11th! Along with the new release date announcement comes the unveiling of an image from the film, and you can check that out at the bottom of this article.

From venue changes and the pandemic to political backlash and the threat of litigation, Salem Horror Fest founder and director Kay Lynch has never been one to back down. The festival’s seventh annual event, which kicked off last night at Salem’s Peabody Essex Museum, was further proof of her resilience.
After its original headliner, Hocus Pocus star Kathy Najimy, canceled with less than 48 hours notice, the festival’s entire opening night ceremony was restructured. On lieu of the original $50 ticket charge, the program was made free (with the option to make a donation), costing the festival an untold amount of money.
But the show must go on — and it did so in spectacular fashion with horror icon Linnea Quigley sitting down for a live interview, while the Hocus Pocus screening was replaced by The People’s Joker, previously scheduled to be the festival’s closing film.

Art the Clown is fast-becoming a new slasher icon. Though he's yet to star in a truly massive box office hit, his blood-drenched exploits in "Terrifier 2" went a long way towards building his reputation as the slasher killer of the modern age. Damien Leone, the creator of the franchise and director of the first two installments, has made a name for himself by going further than any Hollywood horror and depicting scenes of such utter depravity that audiences have reportedly struggled not to pass out.
2016's "Terrifier" went largely unnoticed, but is infamous among some horror fans for a scene in which one victim is strung upside down and essentially, shall we say, divided in two in a particularly unfortunate manner. "Terrifier 2" then arrived in 2022 with just as much, if not more ultra-violence, and proved to be almost too brutal for even seasoned horror fans. Despite the film's astonishing level of abject savagery,...

Faceless After Dark: "Following her breakout success as the star of a killer clown horror flick, Bowie now finds herself struggling to capitalize on its success. But when she is suddenly held hostage by an unhinged fan posing as that same killer clown, horror becomes her reality as she fights to survive the night and escape before he completes his sinister plan to recreate the film’s fatal plot. Jenna Kanell from the Terrifier franchise gives a tour-de-force performance in this wild, gory ride."

Popcorn buckets are all the rage right now with several sparking controversy, including this gem for Dune: Part Two. Studios continue to push the envelope with rumors that the bucket for Deadpool & Wolverine will be nothing short of “intentionally crude and lewd,” teased Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. But what about horror?
Horror fans hope to see a Terrifier popcorn bucket available in theaters nationwide when Terrifier 3 releases this fall. Over the weekend, a hardcore fan launched a petition to raise awareness for a potential Terrifier 3 popcorn bucket. I immediately fantasized about eating pink popcorn out of Art the Clown’s head.
What would you want to see out of a Terrifier popcorn bucket? Damien Leone and Phil Falcone’s third film is Christmas-themed so I’m sure there’s no shortage of cool ideas.

As far as investigators go, Jim Rockford (James Garner) is a bit of a departure from the mostly-polished (Columbo excepted) detectives of television's first decade. A slouchily dressed detective who lived in a trailer and served time in San Quentin, Rockford was cool — if not always collected. "The Rockford Files" ran for six seasons on NBC beginning in 1974 and was later resurrected for a series of '90s TV movies. In that time, audiences were introduced not only to Rockford, but to a cast of supporting characters including his truck driver dad Rocky (Noah Beery Jr.), LAPD pal Becker (Joe Santos), and the con artist Angel (Stuart Margolin).
Garner passed away in 2014, and only a few "Rockford Files" castmates are still with us today. Those who are still around include notable recurring guest stars like famously mustachioed "Blue Bloods" star Tom Selleck, Egot-winning multi-hyphenate Rita Moreno, and "Happy Gilmore" director...

The short film that introduced Mickey Mouse to the world, 1928’s Steamboat Willie entered the public domain this year, and a handful of Mickey Mouse-themed horror projects have already been announced. One of those films is titled Screamboat, and Bloody Disgusting has learned that the filmmakers are teaming with Iconic Events Releasing for a theatrical release.

Daniel Roebuck has racked up over 250 credits over the course of a career that has lasted nearly 40 years so far, and our friends at Bloody Disgusting have just broken the news that one of his next credits will be on writer/director Damien Leone’s Terrifier 3, which is set to receive a theatrical release on October 25th. According to the site, Roebuck will be appearing in the film as Santa Claus. It seems fitting, because Roebuck was already in Santa mode for a family-friendly movie called Saint Nick of Bethlehem, which he co-wrote and co-directed. That movie will be released later this year as well.
Roebuck provided the following statement: “I’ve been holding this secret for a long time! I’ve been really excited about it. I’m actually entering into the movies that I watch. It’s extraordinary. This is Terrifier bigger, badder, best.“

Art the Clown will be back for Halloween this fall, with some help from Iconic Events Releasing. The distribution banner has partnered with Cineverse and its horror division Bloody Disgusting to handle theatrical distribution on “Terrifier 3,” the next entry in the ongoing cult horror series.
Announced at CinemaCon Tuesday morning, the partnership between the companies marks a continuation from “Terrifier 2,” which Iconic Events distributed theatrically in 2022. That feature earned more than $15 million at the global box office, marking a huge return on its scrappy $250,000 production budget.

How brutal does a film need to be for horror aficionado Mike Flanagan to invent a new "MegaSlasher" genre to describe it? As brutal as "Terrifier 2." The 2022 "MegaSlasher" (a term basically indistinguishable from the "splatter" genre) was director Damien Leone's sequel to his low-budget 2016 "Terrifier," and took the violence to extreme levels in order to differentiate itself from the standard Hollywood slasher fare. As Leone said during a 2022 Q&a, "We have to show the audience things that [Hollywood] would never have the balls to show.'"
It's a tactic that worked, with the film proving too brutal for some horror fans and making headlines with reports of viewers fainting and vomiting during screenings. "Terrifier 2" scared up big wins at the box office, too, making $15.7 million on a $250,000 budget. Not bad at all, especially for a film that contains some of the most sickening on-screen violence you'll ever see.

We’ll see Terrifier 2 star Lauren Lavera get her rematch with Art the Clown when Terrifier 3 reaches theatres this October, but sometime this year we’ll also have the chance to see Lavera take the lead in the pregnancy horror film The Fetus.
