The Star Wars franchise under the Disney regime has, without a doubt, had its highs and lows with fans and general audiences alike. The star of the sequel trilogy, Daisy Ridley, has said that offers have seldom come her way since taking the role. And what was meant to be a star-making vehicle for Alden Ehrenreich after being the lead in the spin-off prequel, Solo: A Star Wars Story, was met with indifference as the behind-the-scenes drama overshadowed the film and Ehrenreich has been steadily working on more low key projects.
Both are not resentful of the property, though, and are willing to reprise their roles in a galaxy far, far away. Cbr is reporting on Ridley’s interest in coming back. “I mean, I’m open to a phone call. I’m looking for employment!” Outside of the initial trilogy, Ridley has also lent her voice to the animated...

Disney+ has found its Ezra Bridger. Eman Esfandi has been tapped to play the animated character in Disney+’s live-action Ahsoka series, sources have confirmed to Deadline. Lucasfilm declined comment.
The Ezra Bridger character was first introduced as the protagonist in the animated Star Wars: Rebels series in 2014, voiced by Taylor Gray. The character returned in Lucasfilm’s 2018 Star Wars: Forces of Destiny animated series with Gray reprising his role.
Ahsoka, Disney+’s spinoff of The Mandalorian, stars Rosario Dawson as the titular Ahsoka Tano. Written by Star Wars Rebels co-creator Dave Filoni and executive produced by Filoni and Jon Favreau, the series will continue Ahsoka’s story. Cast also includes Ray Stevenson, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren from the Star Wars Rebels animated series, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Hayden Christensen also is expected to reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker. Plot details are being kept under wraps.

The streaming services continue their ceaseless rollout of new content, and several fresh titles are debuting this weekend.
First up, arriving on HBO Max is The King of Staten Island, a semi-autobiographical comedy drama partly inspired by the life of its star, comedian and SNL alum Pete Davidson. A waster high school dropout still living with his mother dreams of becoming a tattoo artist, but is stifled by his medical and mental health issues, which are only compounded when his mom begins dating a new man who’s a firefighter like his deceased father.
Also on HBO Max is season 2 of The Alienist, subtitled Angel of Darkness after the novel on which it’s based, seeing the return of its ad hoc team of investigators, this time looking into the brutal deaths of young children that may be the work of a serial killer, while digging into familiar themes of societal status,...

Disney Plus unloads its second weekly haul of the year today, as nine new titles have been added to the streaming service’s library. Although Disney Plus was initially dismissed by many as merely a digital alternative to owning home releases of the animated classics, its swiftly growing library of content has allowed it to become one of the premiere streaming services currently available. Now, a trailer has arrived to preview the highlights of the new movies and TV shows to be added throughout January, and you can check it out up above.
Films newly available this month include Mary Poppins Returns, a sequel to the beloved ‘60s classic that sees the magical super nanny reappear to the Banks children as adults when she’s most needed, to save them from the spiral of hopelessness and despair into which they’ve fallen.

2020, cursed year that it was, represented the first turn of the calendar since 2009 that did not feature an entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With its list of new releases for January 2021, Disney+ is set to immediately rectify that. Not only is WandaVision the first new McU installment since 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, it’s the first ever Marvel television show from Marvel Studios’ reordering under content czar Kevin Feige.
WandaVision is set to premiere on Jan. 15 and will feature two beloved McU characters Wanda Maximoff a.k.a. Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and The Vision (Paul Bettany). As the trailers reveal, this series will find Wanda and Vis living in domestic bliss in before discovering all is not what it seems. The series will pay homage to classic TV sitcoms and premiere new episodes each Friday.

2020 has turned out to be a pretty big year for Disney Plus, what with many major releases going up on streaming instead of dropping in theaters. However, the pandemic’s also held a lot back until 2021, too, which means that next year is going to be an even bigger one for the Mouse House’s platform. And things will kick off right out of the gate, as January is a major month when it comes to new additions.

Say what you will about Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige, but you can’t deny he doesn’t know how to make fans happy. And, with the star producer now confirmed to be working on a new Star Wars movie, it seems that he’s considering some decisions that should make hardcore viewers extremely pleased. That’s because we’ve heard from our sources – the same ones who told us Ewan McGregor was returning as Obi-Wan back in May, and that an Aladdin sequel was happening, both of which were later confirmed – that he’s thinking about bringing perennial fan-favourite character Ahsoka Tano to the big screen.

Though I can count such films with the fingers on one hand, I end up finding something irksome even in those. Kate Melville is an award-winning filmmaker and screenwriter. Star Wars: Forces Of Destiny is a new series of animated shorts about the female characters of the Star Wars universe that feature the actual actors reprising their roles (for the most part), and Disney released the first episode online earlier this week. Starring Daisy Ridley, the short—titled “Sands Of Jakku”—takes place shortly after Rey meets Bb-8 in The Force Awakens, and it could fit so easily into that movie’s story that it might as well be a canonical deleted scene. Plus, it gives Star Wars fans a chance to see something else happening on the sand-covered dump that is Jakku other than people salvaging junk from crashed spaceships or getting an unfair number of portions from Unkar Plutt.
