Unappreciated Piece in Sci-fi Film
24 October 2023
I come back to thinking about this title for a fun, nice ride. A Youtube bit where I wonder what these people thought of this movie. A lot of people threw the blame at the lead as miscast for the role but in retrospect this film story could have been really cool as a continuation. I think everyone at that time was really spoiled. The guy in the lead did well and would have grown into the role. Both young leads did a great job.

Six hundred characters? Ok the sets were amazing, outfit design, out of this world and the CGI team on this one are the real superstars.

In closing, to meet the required text limit to post - this is a stunning visually appealing movie that spoiled kids failed to appreciate, for what it could have been.

This show was doomed from the start...
24 July 2023
So I'm sitting down with some nice food ready to watch something while I eat. The second episode starts up and something is happening and Negan makes a quip "ball of fun hanging out with you" to Maggie... It was then it really sunk in. This show is never going to work because Maggie should have put her knife between his ears then and every time he says anything. After what Negan did to Maggie, they cannot be in the same room. Not even the same hemisphere. The writers of this show are absolutely dumb. They could have had either do a series, but not together. There is no way ever, not in a million years could someone make up for what Negan did. This whole thing is simply an awful construct, right from the beginning.

Thanks Hollyweird
26 February 2023
I wonder if Hollywood wonders why they call it Hollyweird? If it does, it should be made to sit through this collection of bizarre ideas put to celluloid.

This is not what I thought it was going to be. I should have read some reviews here before I invited the woman to watch it with me. Right from the opening shot where the cameraman is drunk and rolling around all over the place we should have known to stop. But we kept going hoping it was going to be entertaining. It wasn't.

It's amazing that someone thought this was something the world needed and would pay to experience. I can't even imagine someone pitching this idea, demanding money to do it, and not being carted out by security. How did the actors read this script and think "this is how I want millions of people to see me, sign me up!". They're a weird bunch so it does make sense they make the journey to that insane asylum in the hills and apparently this is what people want to do there because they're bored with having too much money. It's a hard life for them I guess, so getting their jollies through evil deeds is the only road to go down. That's what this movie wants us to know.

Don't waste your time with this trash, and stay out of elevators with anyone who had anything to do with making this production a reality. And probably stay away from women with no eyebrows. The guy in this film didn't and now he's four beers short of a six pack.

There's nothing wrong with this film....
11 February 2023
It's amazing how many unreasonable reviews are here. I've watched a lot of films and I can tell you there is nothing wrong with this one. It's not the greatest story ever told but it holds up well enough to relax with some pizza and popcorn.

There seems to be a lot of negative people these days who probably shouldn't be allowed to have input into what's good and what is not. Each of the people here rating this as a one star are really just outing themselves as people with not only bad taste but those that will purposefully try to ruin something for others in an attempt to somehow fill the void inside their soul. If someone had such an adverse effect from this movie as to write a trash review here scoring it a one, they are probably not right in the head and something else is going on. It's a movie about a futuristic childs toy. Maybe these people walked into the wrong room and thought they were getting Shakespeare?

Mild. Not Hot.
1 February 2023
Sitting here thing should I watch more of this show.... You go ahead but after three and the third being not what I want in this sort of show, I'm going to watch what the reviews are and It's not good so far. Once they run out of "stick to the storyline" screenplay, this thing is probably going to fall apart.

The sets are nice the story slightly plausible, the lead is good. Pablo is like a Nathan Fillion knockoff, if not that a worthy successor. They could (didn't say should) do a new Firefly reboot with him.

Oh the kid - yeah, I think in the story she's supposed to be endearing but I didn't get that here.

Unexpected Entertainment
28 January 2023
I was not expecting much from this film. I threw it on randomly as I ate dinner. I then almost bailed out during the opening scene, sort of looked like a live rip off of Ghost in the Shell or Appleseed. Then somehow it hooked me. Perhaps because it isn't loaded with USA low IQ rubbish and SJW crap, I enjoyed it a lot more than I was prepared for.

It presents a lot of interesting design ideas and props. The world building has some dark and sinister undertones. It's not a super high budget movie so those who are saying the CGI is a bit sketchy are the same type who expect video games to all have the latest ray-tracing or they suck. They got no idea or taste in film. They just want every movie to be McDonalds.

Anyone saying it is less than a six out of ten is probably a peanut USA clown and should be ignored as their opinion is likely that of a person who thinks Marvel movies should be made for adults.

Who wrote this one?
7 June 2022
There's been a lot of slow episodes of recent. This one is really quite good. It's all due to the writing and for the most part, the actual story. There's also some directorial play with different angles of the same scene and that has it unfold from different perspectives which is quite tricky and entertaining. There's also a surprising cast choice in the mix.

Absolute Poisonous Dreck
13 February 2022
Is this some kind of sick joke? What a terrible film. There's no way I could be convinced to put money into this story being told. Just imagine the pitch, which had to involve some of the twisted content of this movie I think. It must have been something really special to get funding for this. Only a lunatic would pay money for this result on film. Absolute poisonous dreck.

There's nothing good in this presentation. I'd steer clear of anyone who though there was. I don't often feel pity for actors, they're a weird lot but this one must of sent most of them into early retirement. This is the kind of movie you slip into the weekend collection of someone you don't like and giggle like a supervillain afterwards.

Would make a great mini series....
13 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoy these sci-fi disaster movies. It's kind of like a ship lost at sea, but with better tech and gadgets. Space is a dangerous place and there's room for weird storylines. This delivers, but the package that is received has been shaken around in the mail somewhat.

A woman is working on a shuttle cruiser running people between Earth and Mars. An accident occurs and they get thrown off course into off into uncharted Space.

The focus of the story should have been a little more around the technical and not so much about a single relationship between two women. The perspective of the whole movie is from one of them. A bit more focus on the Captain and his burden would have been interesting, as example. I also would have liked more inventiveness and struggle toward finding a way back. Contact with Earth and home would have been worth looking at. Why didn't they? It's not said. I wrote it off to a coverup and they must have said all hands were lost? The bit at the end where they arrive at a new planet could have been a hallucination? What happened in some of the large jumps in time? That should have been where the focus should have been. It's all a bit vague and rushed. Would make a great mini series, with the extra time. Maybe the book was better? A bit more time into the slide into despair and madness would have been a better focus for the plot. It was there of course, it just lingered focus too much on the relationship, and her fixing a projector entertainment piece of equipment when it could have been so much more if it tapped into the panic one might really feel being in that situation. What happened to all the kids? The floating sarcophagus analogy at the end and the state of things implied they all died? We'll never know.

There's a lot more questions and ponderings but....

If you like a slow burn space film with decent props and sets in a vague, futuristic, kind of depressing setting, this is one to see.

Don't Look Up (2021)

It's actually a little disturbing....
1 January 2022
Presents a complicated, veiled summary of the last decade quite well. It might be some kind of psy-op to try and undo the damage? It presents like a snowball of crazy, picking up momentum and a larger form as it goes rolling down a hill. The problem is that no one person can stop any of it from happening and certainly a film wont change anything, if that is at all its goal. They threw a lot of their top tier propaganda frontmen (actors) at it, so there probably was a larger idea here than simply entertainment. It's actually a little disturbing. This might be their attempt to stop the snowball before it collects this whole decade with it, and goes splat into 2030. Movies have worked as a social engineering tool for them before, but probably not this time. There's too many other distractions, and this film is probably just going to become a part of the snowball.

It's worth a watch. Especially if you don't know what to expect. A solid 6/10 but if you like these kind of Hollywood films, it could easily go up to a 7/10. There's nothing really wrong with it, I just can't shake that feeling of being subliminally messed with.

Take the pill - The morning after pill Neo....
25 December 2021
I don't think there will be another one. It all depends how much money it makes but I will guess the enthusiasm is not there after this abortion escapee has dragged itself across the screen.

They have broken the story and world so much now in this movie that there's no repairing it. This movie is not entertaining. Instead of building on the story it disassembles it and reinvents itself.... Yeah, much like the creators themselves. Whatever they were on when they thought this up is not good for their creativity. The ideas in this film destroy the first three films.

It's full of woke too. None of the action scenes were exciting and the ending was so lame I felt embarrassed having seen it. It cannot be unseen unfortunately. It's going to be one of those "watch the first three but avoid the 4th one like it has leprosy".

The third film needs to come with a sticker that reads "do not resuscitate". Whatever you bought back in this one is not the same creature. It's like the Pet Cemetery of movies. They buried a copy of Matrix Revolutions in there and this soul-less thing came back.

You will be entertained
6 December 2021
This is so good. Every player in it was awesome. Crixos is an absolute superstar but they all are. Even all the extra's painted this picture of pure olden time carnage. It's better than you can get in any movie and if you like sword and sandal or ever interesting drama you should check this out. Really well done by all involved. I appreciated it. Lucy Lawless was a queen in this, I'd like to think her Xena confidence helped out. She would have helped a lot of the noobies. She was outstanding. I could write all day about this - soooo good, John Hanna. He's da man.

Heed the warning written on it....
5 December 2021
The title is a warning to avoid this dung heap. There is nothing good here at all. The characters are nauseating. The story boring. The locations dull. The jokes flat and the script should be repurposed as toilet tissue. I ended up skipping ahead in five minute increments when it all became to be too much dross. The best part was when the credits rolled and I could turn it off. Don't make the same mistake I did. Don't even turn it on.

Dull story told three times....
5 December 2021
Of all the stories they could have chosen to make a telling of in this genre, they chose this one. It has a few alright moments but this is one there is no reason to see or recommend. They actually tell the same story three times from supposed different viewpoints but it all is so forgettable and similar, right down to the camera angles that it's too dull to watch it again by the third rendition. An overly long bore-fest. Even fans of medieval stories will be either fast forwarding this by the end or snoring unconscious.

Where one second behind means you are slow
17 September 2021
In the history of racing films this goes up there because we all knew, if you were alive at the time, Schumacher was the fastest man alive. It doesn't need subtitles, just some beer, some nostalgic leanings and let this bit be a document to the times of that field. Some good insights and some real humble bits from his competitors too, which gives a perspective to his form and shows respect, in a field where one second behind, means you are slow.

Worth the asking price....
4 September 2021
Noir setting with cyberpunk detective story. Has good casting and reminds me of another of Guy Pierce's roles, Lockout. That was a fun movie. Fimmel does a good role below the special effects and was a surprise to see pop up like that. This was a surprise movie. I was looking for something to watch with no expectations of finding anything good so, I thought to recommend it here, to any cyberpunk, sci-fi fans in a quick review. Being a mystery, I wont give anything away. It's a nice film to look at and is intriguing. Being an original idea, it's always fascinating to see where these sci-fi films can go, and the journey through this slow burn play is worth the asking price of an hour and a half of time.

Ruined the main character....
3 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode inserted something that shouldn't have been there. My girlfriend saw it coming before I did and I was in denial until it happened. It's the absinthe scene with Dorian and the gunslinger. Strangely I could have gotten past it but she could not. It was way out of character and was put there to appeal to, certain groups. Made no sense and there was no indication the gunslinger character was that way inclined. She cant watch this series any further. Such a shame, I was quite enjoying it but I'm not watching it by myself and she was outraged at the ruining of the main character. Reminds me when they did it in Black Sails, that pirate series. Stopped watching that one too. Inserting that stuff is just wrong and it was the end for that series too. This is where we get off.

An absolute waste of time
27 July 2021
This is a very strange USA movie. Their culture is really depressing unless you are on top an this movie shows that by showing someone on the bottom, but behold, he used to be on top. Then he went to live in the forest with a pig.... Go home USA you're drunk. So tired of the USA and their everyman act. Nothing good has come out of that place in years. This movie is a troll by somebody, on general society. It is all very well done and looks nice and goes hard to feel, but the core is rotten. An absolute waste of time.

Almost has the winning combination
22 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The characters were annoyingly distant and terrible at communication. Whomever wrote the story was close to something good but it seems like they have never actually talked to a human being before. There's lots of long pauses, characters ignoring questions, not asking questions, not making valid arguments to their purpose, not compromising on their wants, all kinds of strange behaviour. I suppose it could be because they're damaged by a tortured life, but it swings from sanity to insanity constantly. I wouldn't want to be on a ship with either of them. They're too weird. I wouldn't even want to go on a road trip with them. I'd rather walk.

The ending was a bit loopy. What happened to that guy on the golden planet. I'm not the brightest spark but even I could tell it was inhospitable. They can't survive there. He should have accepted it was a dead end and tried the other guys plan. Simply stating that he wanted to check it out, and if there was nothing there they could move on to plan B. But instead, I gather he lost his marbles and called it a day. Not a logical choice, he still had other options.

That said though, I think it brings home a good 5/10 because it kept me curious and the sets, costumes and acting were excellent. It's memorable and almost has the winning combination of story, art and mystery.

Pratt is the villain (or should have been)
3 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Superficial characters and American diversity and social engineering flood the screen in this stinker. It's Chris Pratt playing himself again as he tries to emulate what the writers think women want. One interesting missed opportunity was Pratt finding the ship at the end. That should have been the twist. He released, or woke the aliens and started the whole thing. That should have been the plot. Instead they blow the whole ship and end doomsday. It would have made sense and tied into why he became withdrawn and left his family then died a few years later etc. He started the whole thing by going out his own. Pratt released the dormant aliens. That would have been interesting. It almost looked like that's what they were originally going to do? But instead they went for the standard happy ending. Wasted opportunity to really mess with the audience and make an average film into something memorable.

Too Depressing to be Fun
24 May 2021
The points just kept dropping off this one the longer it ran. The actors are ok the props are ok the sets ok the effects ok but the actual story, is just miserable. It makes the USA seem like the most miserable place on Earth and perhaps it is. This movie was in serious need of something humorous or uplifting. Even the ending is miserable. A film like this is supposed to be entertaining. Watch this film if your idea of entertainment is depression.

Gains Points for it not being Hollywood
22 February 2021
Probably closer to a 4/10 but I'll bump it up two points because everything I've watched in 2021 has been something I turn off before the end. The second bonus point goes to it for not being more American propaganda rubbish. I'd rather read subtitles than listen to more dross from the United States.
