Reboot (2022)
I can't believe how funny this is.
This show gets me. I love how every character connects with each other. Even Paul does a great job being the grumpy director of a show he's lost touch with, but still somehow has warm and funny moments that make him just as liked as all the rest of the other characters. I wish Knoxville had a little more depth to his character, as he seems he's kind of just one dimensional at the moment, but that's not to say I don't appreciate his role in the show. I'm hoping one episode of this show will in fact be a full episode of the show they are recreating, but I know that might be a stretch. All I can say, is Hulu better not pull a Netflix and cancel this show before everyone gets the chance to realize just how great it is.
Beast (2022)
Martin was the only good thing about this movie.
Well without spoiling the movie, I'll just let you know that the girls really ruin it. Idris doesn't help with his outlandish performance in this as well. It's terrible and I'm so happy I didn't waste money on this piece of trash. Definitely go watch the ghost and the darkness and really be impressed by what a movie can do when you have a lion as a truly bad guy. To add to the horror of this film, the way it ends is just rushed and pitiful. There is no build up to how it ends, it's just suddenly over and you're left looking at the screen in true bewilderment at how you just wasted an hour and a half of your life wat hing something truly unexceptional.
After Life: Episode #3.6 (2022)
Just break my heart!
Wow, that ending was just perfect. Without giving too much away, you will hopefully watch this and find that life is worth living. This episode really put the whole thing together for me and I hope everyone that watched this show like I have, gives it the chance to tell one magnificent story!
Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
Laughable but not funny.
What did they do here? Is it a movie about dinosaurs? A movie about politics? A movie about absolutely nothing? I have no idea what it was about or why I wasted my time on it, but honestly, don't waste your money on this one. I'll seriously never watch this again and I'll be telling everyone I know to stay away from this hot piece of garbage.
Shoresy (2022)
So I gave it a 10 because on the sixth ep I was hooked.
Dare I say, I like this series better than the last season of Letterkenny. The flow was a little off for me on the first episode, and by the second, I was still trying to find what direction they were going with a character like Shoresy. Low and behold the third episode came on and I finally dug into it and just enjoyed it for what it was trying to be. The camera work was cleaner, watching the hockey scenes were more fun, and overall I just liked this show a whole dang lot. I do wish Riley and Jonesy had made an appearance in it(or at least their moms), but I imagine they wanted to start the series with new faces and not ride on as much of the letterkenny name. I can see how it's not for everyone, but if you like Letterkenny, give this show a chance.
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022)
Barbara from Santa Barbara is the best character hands down.
This show will not be liked by everyone, in fact while at the theater, 3 different couples walked out. However at certain points in the film, I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe. So really I think the movie is sort of set for a select group of people that might understand this is a movie about a real person with made up problems, that are being filmed for our enjoyment. Definitely do not go to this movie thinking it's something profound and or life changing. But tmi went to it with the hopes that it would help me escape the average everyday life, and experience something a little unexpected. This film certainly hit me do that. Go see it if you are a fun and carefree individual that knows how to laugh at the absurd.
Letterkenny: Dealership (2021)
Good episode, not a great season.
Not sure why the rest of the episodes of this season can't be rated at the time of writing my review (12/29/21), but let me start by saying this episode was funny and charming with its typical jokes in quick rapid fashion. McMurray doesn't have a lot of screen time this season, so this episode will be enjoyed for that.
Next let's addres the season as a whole. Please, please, please, less butt. It did not surprise me nor did it make me laugh seeing it. Also I don't need several minutes of some girl break dancing. I just wanted more fighting and more Potter patter, so let's get at'er.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)
What happened?
I was in such a good mood before going into this movie, so what happened? Well I don't have just one answer for the question that kept repeating in my mind, but I can say that the forcing of a cheesy scene over and over again, certainly didn't help me. The laughs were forced and definitely not able to save the film for me. I just can't say I would recommend any of my friends to see it and that's a sad feeling, because ei really wanted to like it.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
Don't expect to be scared.
If I'm watching the haunting of something, I expect to get some good scares in. This entire series had maybe 2 jump scares for the entire thing, and at no point was suspense built. It was simply a story being told and pretty dull at that. While I can give credit to the actors who portrayed their characters very well, in fact Flora was an amazing character here; I still can't bring myself to raise my rating any higher than 4 stars at best. The cherry on top of the cake was the very big let down on the last episode. Don't leave it with some sort of cryptic cliffhanger if you know this will be the only spisodes in this series.
Long story short, this is not the haunting of hill house at all and you should not go into thinking it is, or you too, will be sorely let down.
Hoops (2020)
A few laughs, but ultimately bad writing.
At first I was laughing a few times despite the clearly sophomoric writing. It seemed like I could just watch it while zoning out and doing something else. But by the third episode, I realized I wasn't laughing anymore and everything was falling apart. The jokes were dry and humorless, and it felt as if they were beating a dead horse and we were stuck sitting here forcing ourselves to watch the abuse. Needless to say I could not endure and halfway through the third episod, I simply gave up.
I would not recommend anyone watch this, unless you simply have no expectation of anything good coming from it.
Good Boys (2019)
Easy to follow, sometimes hard to watch.
I felt like maybe they played it a little too safe. I was expecting more from the trailer, but instead they played it pretty safe considering what the premise was. A simple coming of age movie with some laughs along the way. Not bad, but not great. No where near what superbad was.
Yesterday (2019)
Kept my attention the whole time.
Which is more than I can say for the people sitting around me at the theater talking throughout the whole movie. I can see how this wont be everyone's cup of tea. For me and my date, we discussed how the movie could have been better, but overall were satisfied with the story and the outcome. A few parts in the middle really start to unravel, but I think it was meant to show the chaos that the character was going through. Still hard to follow at some points, but honestly a really good surprise cameo in the movie I'm sure no one expected to see. I hope more movies are made that explore different ideas, instead of the normal scripts that have been coming out as of late.
Game of Thrones (2011)
It was 10/10 till season 8
This series really blows your mind. Starts out hitting hard and always surprises you. You fall in love with some characters, and loathe others. The depth of the story is very well thought out and it seems like there is a large purpose for what you are watching. Season 7 was short but amazing. It told a story of something that we all dreaded was coming, an ending. But low and behold, season 8 rushes in and destroys all hope for a well written finale to a story that has dedicated to staying true to the plot. So if you just now start watching this show, prepare yourself for a disappointing end. And even after people saying that we never should have expected a happy ending, that wasn't what we hoped for. I believe we hoped for an ending that would coincide with the rest of the story. Not something rushed and out of the blue.
Abby's (2019)
It just might make it as this year's worst show.
Absolute garbage. The campy laughing audience is done. The characters feel so far out if synch it's not funny, but they are trying so hard for it to be funny, that it just makes it more sad. I saw it advertised on hulu and I want to warn others, do not watch this hot pile of trash TV. Why other shows being cancelled that are actually enjoyable to watch like The Mick and you go ahead and green light this, completely boggles my mind.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
Simply spectacular!
This was an epic movie, with great animation and a well written story. My son is nine and he said it's his new favorite movie. I dont know how anyone could give this less than 10 stars.
Sick Note (2017)
Painful to watch.
A good dark comedy was Misfits for the first few seasons. I got to episode 6 of Sick Note and I just can't handle how campy this show is. Great talent just wasted on terrible writing.
Making It (2018)
Was really looking forward to this.
The premise of Nick Offerman and Amy Poehler hosting a crafting competition had so much potential. It's really fun watching the two kick back, relax, and have a little fun on the way. Likewise, I have liked all the crafters since the very beginning. It would be better to watch them being made, but I understand time is an issue and if you wanted to learn how to do it, there are plenty of tutorials out there to show you how. The thing about this show that is making it hard to watch, is how sad it is to see someone get sent home after doing all that work. A rating system from week to week where the points are tallied up and the winner takes all, would have been such a happier moment for everyone to celebrate for the person that did the best. Think of the celebration that is going to be at the end of this show. It's going to be 2 people being each other and when the one wins, the other one is going to be devastated. Just really wish that it had been a more positive way instead of stressing people out and making them cry on tv. I watch this to laugh and have fun, so please do something to keep it fun.
Like Father (2018)
A couple of short laughs, but a dud.
I expected a little more from this movie. I like kristen bell and all, but just caught myself asking myself when I could just turn it off. The end did nothing for me, and all the boat stuff was really just like some big advertisement for Royal Caribbean. Overall wasn't surprised by much except how little Seth Rogen had to do with it. Why even cast him in this???
Impractical Jokers (2011)
Just spent a day binge watching it, and I ain't mad
These guys are the best. I've always seen this show playing at bars when I cant hear, but just seeing it always cracked me up. Then today I noticed it was on tru tv all day long, so I decided what the heck, and watched so much of it. Eatch guy has something to bring to the table, bit for a while I thought Joe and Murr were being picked on more than the Sal and Q. Luckily it started getting even and that makes it more fun in my opinion. Great great show!
Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015)
Fun action with a few chilling scares.
It was my first Insidious movie and my date tried telling me the premise of the first two but I told her to just let me watch it and enjoy. She was a lot more frightened by the scares in it than I was. There we're however a few chilling parts that made me jump, but it's hard to tell if it was the movie scaring me, or the reactions from others in the theater. Either way it was a fun movie to see and where I probably won't need to see it a second time, I'm still happy enough with this piece of work. I will also say as far as the acting goes, I was happy with most everyone in it excluding Dylan Mcdermot. His character didn't seem believable and at times I was laughing at him. I know he can act ad he's the only person in the movie with many movies under his belt that I have seen him in, but this was not his shining moment. The girl that plays Quinn however is really cute and does her part extremely well.
X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)
Yes there are holes and errors, but I can look past them and so can you.
In a whole, this production was much better than X1 X2 and X3. The fight scenes in the future are well detailed and where I wish they would base it off more by the comics rather than just by how they feel the characters would behave, I still found myself enjoying the story and liking the new and old characters. I never would have expected seeing Professor X in that state of being after being shot in the spine, so it was nice to see him more human rather than just a super powered mind reader. I hope you guys go to this movie with as much excitement as I had going into it, and keep an open mind that it's not going to be perfect but it is going to be really good despite it's faults.
Awake (2012)
The commercials got me.
Every time I watched TV I kept seeing commercials for the show AWAKE, so I gave in and actually watched it while it aired, which is a big change for me because usually I just wait until it's on line to watch it with shorter commercials. The acting is strong and thorough, and my only downfalls are going to be when the story gets old. And I'll be surprised if they throw many twists at us as viewers. It'll probably be like LOST and at the end he's in Purgatory for driving while drunk and killing his wife and son. I'm not really hoping that's what happens, but I can't see any way that they can say either his wife, nor his son made it. I'll keep watching it, but honestly TOUCH looked to be a much more compelling story and I'm really excited to see that.
