Black Adam (2022)
Over-The-Top Action, with a touch of Humour
This movie will pack a good punch in terms of action, the high-impact shots deliver a very thrilling experience, especially if you watch it in a cinema. This was complemented by some really impressive visual effects and an outstanding musical score.
Pros:
- Thrilling action scenes
- Brilliant music
- Well-polished CGI
- Great backstory, with rich concepts
- Desert mood was consistent (DC has succeeded in exploring a new regional context for a new superhero)
- Straightforward Less talk, more action
- Nice bit of humour integrated into the dialogue
- Costumes of some of the new superheroes were very creative and catchy
- Thrilling to watch in a cinema
Cons:
- Recycled concepts from previous superheroes
- The American Accent! It's just out-of-place (everyone from that region speaks in a middle-eastern accent except Black Adam... why?)
- Final sequence was a bit short
- Some characters stick out as unnecessary
Overall, the movie was very much enjoyable, and definitely worth your time. Looking forward to upcoming sequels.
Smile (2022)
A cheap Stranger Things knock-off with no plot or originality
You know a horror movie is genuinely bad when people in the cinema could not stop laughing.
The movie had effectively rehashed a number of clichés and concepts from other shows and movies, and amalgamated them within a plotless sequence of events.
The movie fails to deliver a genuine storyline, as backstory was scattered and fragmented across a series of random flashbacks, which the writers presumed would create some form of story sequence, but failed to do that ultimately.
The movie basically consisted of: 60% slow scenes with weird music, 20% close-up scenes of hallucinations, 10% random memory flashbacks, and 10% cheap jump-scares that mimic what has been already seen in previous movies.
Without going into spoilers, the movie has taken the horror elements from the plot of Stranger Things, and then re-hashed them into a cheap and inferior knock-off.
Smile (2022) is one of those movies where people leave the cinema pulling their hair out wishing they had just stayed at home and watched Netflix.
0/10
1- No originality.
2- Very irritating sequence of events.
3- Painfully slow.
4- No plotline.
5- Terrible Ending.
6- And just out-right hilarious.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Weirdest Most Entertaining Movie I've Seen In a While
This is strangely one of the rare movies that can make you Laugh, Cry, Jump Off Your Seat and Scratch Your Head. There's incredible action sequences where some really creative fights occur. There are some really funny moments, really sad moments, and overall, it is a well-thought-out and well written thriller/mystery. It explores some scientific concepts in a really nice way, and at the same time, takes the viewer through an emotional experience.
It's not your typical movie, it's very weird, but very very entertaining.
Westworld: Crisis Theory (2020)
Too Ambitious For Its Own Good
Brief Review of the Season and its Finale.
Cinematics and Character Development are outstanding. But you will be disappointed in the main plot. Not because of bad sequencing, but rather deviation from Pragmatism to pure Fiction.
They explore big concepts like Human Complexity, Societal Engineering & Political Turmoil but without giving enough explanation on the Why, How & What. Instead of involving Experts and Academics in the writing of this deeply complex subject, the writers just opted for the generic Hollywood vision of future AI, which pretty much killed its signature scientific vibe; the main foundation of the Show. This Season drastically shifted from the Thought-Provoking Masterpiece it once was to yet another Show about Human Revolt against an Oppressive AI.
In regards to the actual plot, you will notice a barrage of Plot Shields that will really kill the experience. Too many events rely on perfectly timed coincidences, which created too many plot holes. Plus, the way they tie everything together like it was planned all along is just ridiculous, it made the main character look like some sort of Jesus figure. It can be very childish sometimes.
Finally, lack of actual wisdom, first season had many memorable quotes that will live on, but season 3 is jam-packed with recycled generic quotes that are overused. Which makes the season look immature compared to Season 1.
The story flow is nice, they established a man vs robot plot for season 4 to continue. But they need to drop this whole 'human revolution' plot. The writers are not qualified to write on this subject. They need to Focus on AI Consciousness. There are enough plots in Cinema and Video Games that explore Human Revolution and Cyber Oppression. Westworld was always about understanding Consciousness & Human Morality, and questioning many concepts we take for granted.
The Walking Dead: The World Before (2019)
Deliberately Prolonged - AMC is Milking a Dead Cow
Just to sum it up for everyone, this does not feel like a mid-season finale by any standard. If you thought the season cannot get anymore disappointing then you've never been so wrong, because you will be slammed with a mediocre cliffhanger with too many gaps in general storytelling.
The show is way behind the comics and is taking longer than usual to reach any major story milestones. This reduction in pace with the comics is a clear indication that the series is being deliberately prolonged for marketing purposes and to drain out whatever money the show can still make before it dies out completely, especially since the show has noticeably fallen bellow the minimum standards line of A-Rated TV Shows like Stranger Things, Peaky Blinders and Westworld. Essentially making TWD a dying franchise that is kept on the ICU.
The Walking Dead has turned from a TV show into a simple decoration AMC keeps for the little money it brings from dedicated viewers. What a shame.
If the show does not pick up pace and speeds through all the unnecessary dialogue and cringy chitty-chat moments between irrelevant characters then it is safe to assume this show will only be heading south from here.
Joker (2019)
Chilling To The Bone.. Joaquin Phoenix Has Set a High Bar for Future Jokers
This movie breaks all DC Movie traditions by presenting a bold and daring take on one of its most prominent characters. It reflects on many flaws in contemporary society by illustrating how those flaws may foster mayhem within the human mind.
This Dark & Chilling masterpiece is guaranteed to leave you in a state of disarray as you reflect on life and contrast reality with the events that molded this Madman. You will slowly watch a realistic spring of events that will give birth to one of our favorite antagonists; the Joker. Additionally, the movie does well in answering many unsolved questions in the Batman Saga.
The only downside to this movie is that it did not fully illustrate the smart cunning side of Joker as it was only concerned with his formation.
And finally, how can I write a review about Joker with mentioning Joaquin Phoenix and his stellar performance that will haunt your thoughts for days to come. Heath would be proud of this, an Oscar is not even enough to give this performance the acknowledgment it deserves, thank you Joaquin, you will be remembered as one of the few actors who truly embodied the persona of the Joker.
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
And now the rains weep o'er his halls, With no one there to hear
And so we depart from the Epic Game of Thrones Saga with a simple "They Lived Happily Ever After" ending.
The Dark show that always had us on edge due to its shear Unpredictability, Relentlessness & Sinister Story Writing has ended like your typical Disney Princess Movie.
A finale that is out of touch with all previous seasons as if they never existed.
We were deceived into thinking the story of the Song of Ice and Fire was deeper and bigger than simply "a few houses squabbling for the Iron Throne", but in the end it turned out that this was actually the case. The White Walkers? The Signs? The Prophecies? Winter is Coming?
These were all distractions from the real ending, the Disney PG-13 Ending we've just been slammed with.
To top it all off, the Azor Ahai Prophecy was nothing more than an event to tie a loose end, it meant nothing, and it held absolutely no weight in the end.
If this is really GRRM's anticipated "Bittersweet" Ending, then I think it's time he reconsiders the entire plotline.
Thank you D&D for the first 6 Seasons, we couldn't have asked for a better TV Show, despite this terrible final season, I will remember GOT as the only show that actually kept me awake at night.
And Now Our Watch Has Ended.

Game of Thrones: The Bells (2019)
It Is Time For Us To Bid You Farewell Dear Friend, Our Journey Ends Here, in Tears.
We always ask ourselves, what made GOT one of the best shows of all time? The simple answer is: Unpredictability & Realism. A Formula Abandoned by this Season.
It was the only show that demonstrated that the consequences of the protagonist's decisions will definitely backfire. And it was the only show that let events roll the way they would in reality, no character had Plot Armor or some Holy Blessing, and they reserved those Miraculous moments for the most critical climax points of the show. The show constantly had us on edge because we knew no character was safe and actions will have appropriate reactions, but this season (including this episode) threw that concept behind it and moved on to pure Fan Service and Hollywood-Styled Heroic Drama.
Despite some truly memorable moments this episode, we can't help but feel that there was a major lack of content that forced the directors to shove in absolutely unneeded scenes to meet the 80 minute threshold.
This episode will strike you with a very confusing mix of Emotional Scenes (that will bring tears to your eyes), Thrilling Moments (that will keep you on edge) and Disappointing Sequences (that will decimate your hopes for the finale). There are a few occasional unrealistic "Plot-Tying Scenes" that were placed for the sole purpose of pushing the story through at any cost, even if it means shoving in poorly written scenes.
Acting was a solid 10. I have rarely seen this quality of acting at such a consistent pace, credit must be given where it is due, and we must acknowledge the acting mastery in this episode.
Writing hasn't improved since the last 2 episodes and we will most likely see the same next episode.
In my final remarks I will say this, D&D's attempt at delivering a condensed final season backfired in the most surprising way imaginable. Their attempts at "Subverting Fan Expectations" produced a sequence of highly predictable events that were anticipated before the episode.
It is time for us to bid this show farewell because the Finale will be nothing more than a sequence of events who's sole purpose is to try and tie the remaining loose ends in the plot.
We Thank You for the Amazing first 4 Seasons and the Epic Season 6 Signature Episodes, but we also cannot help but feel betrayed by the shear Hollywood-Directed Action Drama that was forced upon this Final Season.

Game of Thrones: The Last of the Starks (2019)
Adding Insult To Injury
It brings me great pain to write such a review for a show that I have always supported even during its darkest days and most mediocre moments, but this catastrophe of an episode was my breaking point.
Some felt inclined to forgive the rushing of the Night King's story because the season was moving at a very fast pace. But now we know that this wasn't the case. Today we've been slammed with a giant filler Episode before the Pre-Finale, and pace was beyond slow. There is only One explanation for that: Unforgivably poor script writing and conspicuous lack of ideas and content.
The First half of the episode showed how inconsistent the show has become. 45 Minutes of dialogue that could have easily been sized down to 15. A plethora of totally unnecessary conversations and interaction. And a bone-cringing sequence of celebratory scenes that are so out of context that you can't help but feel they really have nothing more to show us other than one final battle.
The second half is also permeated with extended dialogue scenes that repeat themselves over and over until you realize nothing will actually happen this episode.
I've been checking the loading bar too often because I kept clinging on to the hope that something significant will happen, something that would at least maintain a decent level of consistency. I was wrong, one surprise scene that quickly cut back to dialogue and then a final scene that we all saw coming.
The Episode was evidently rushed, it was as clear as day. The Writing was so poor that I often wondered if the season was handed to a new group of writers. But denial will not help us now. The matter of fact is, D&D were pressured to finish the show in one season, and clearly they were not ready for this, if this wasn't the final season we could have forgiven this atrocious display of amateur screen writing, but now we have to face the fact that this painful, brittle and disappointing season will be the last thing we see of Game of Thrones.
I do not want to sound too pessimistic, but it seems we will depart from the epic Game of Thrones with One Final Battle accompanied by George RR Martin's initial ending that he told the showrunners 9 Years ago.
I hope that I'm wrong, but we ought to prepare for the worst.
Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)
If You Think it's Over, Then You Haven't Been Paying Attention
Quick Review of the Episode:
Pros:
- Excellent Start
- Very Intense
- A Few Deaths (though no major shocks)
- A Cinematic Masterpiece
Cons:
- Got Repetitive after the First Half
- Unrealistic Character Survival, it was like a Superhero Movie, there's always someone Saving the Day
- Unsatisfying Ending (though not really an ending)
- Physics were not even considered at times (for the sake of story)
- No Backstories (hopefully future episodes will do that)
- RIPPED OFF FAR CRY 3!!! That was just Unforgivable!
** As for the Ending. Without any Spoilers. Just Remember Dany's Vision in the Frozen Throne Room. Winter is Coming Again. But it Will be Nothing Like the First Winter.
The Walking Dead: Wrath (2018)
A glimpse of hope after a dishonrable downfall for the series..
I was a long critic of the last 2 seasons of TWD, nothing can erase the sloppy writing and production that they have exhibited up until this finale.
Now that's out of the way, let me express how glad I am that the showrunners got their selves together and compiled a magnificent episode that reinvigorates our lust for the series.
This episode was unique in many ways: Writing, Production, Cinematics, Twists & most importantly Structure.
The episode takes you on a magnificent roller-coaster of emotions and thrills, it introduces many deep concepts that we never thought we'd see on TWD.
The Twist was absolutely mind-blowing and unexpected.
And for the very first time we finish a season fully satisfied with the ending.
The showrunners leave a very small yet intriguing cliffhanger to keep us invested in the next season, and it was well placed and introduced.
The episode is filled with Action, Twists, Mystery, Drama, Joy & Thrills.
Let's hope they maintain this excellent level of writing, I sincerely hope they don't repeat their past mistakes, because this episode has restored my hope in TWD.
The Walking Dead: Mercy (2017)
No Rick... we can't kill him now... let's wait till the series gets too boring
You gotta be kidding me... a couple dozen soldiers armed with automatic weapons all locked and loaded, guns pointed at Negan, the mission was to kill him (they stressed that enough), Negan standing like a sitting duck, no cover available.. guess what happens.. THEY ALL MISS!!!!!!
why is it so hard to film a logic scene if you want a character to live..
Rick out with one goal in mind.. KILL NEGAN!! So as soon as they have him surrounded.. they have a chat! a meaningless chat! they unleash thousands of bullets on a single target, miss, and then the big screen writing catastrophe.. There he is.. lying on the ground.. injured.. just meters away from rick.. only for the priest to stop him so rick just takes a picture.. YES RICK TOOK A SELFIE WITH NEGAN BUT COULDN'T KILL HIM CUZ "IT'S NOT ABOUT RICK"..
YOU DONE RIGHT SCREWED UP GUYS.. this is just hilariously bad.. I will be honest.. I have never seen screen writing this bad before.. I'm not even exaggerating.. this is by far the worst story-writing ever to be aired on TV..
Dunkirk (2017)
A bold attempt on conventional storytelling.. Defines its own genre
Is it possible for a movie with no clear plot line or any character development to keep its viewer fully occupied and focused? Nolan made it happen with this magnificent display of cinematic mastery.
The movie presents itself as a simple series of events seen through the eyes of various unnamed characters, you will not require any information or background story about them, the powerful illustration of the events that they are going through is a sufficient introduction to these tormented soldiers.
Nolan emphasized those very trivial details of a story that are often ignored due to them being overshadowed by the main storyline, but in this movie, they are the storyline, they connect beautifully through the eyes of those unknown characters, as every event might seem insignificant when you compare it to the war itself, but in the eyes of those soldiers those horrific moments will leave an eternal scar on them.
These moments or mini-scenes are shared by all the characters in the movie as you will experience every one of those breathtaking moments multiple times from multiple perspectives, each perspective is a totally different experience filled with its highs, lows and twists.
The scenes are presented in an unusual way, the timeline is a barrage of events with different time stamps, some preceded other scenes while some were happening at the exact same time as many of the following senes but from a different angle, Nolan showed us that tilting the camera in another direction can show us a totally different story than what's happening on the other side of the camera.
This masterpiece of a movie just raised the bar for all filmmakers, how Nolan captured a simple escape scene in the most breathtaking and thought-provoking way is a cinematic triumph that will be praised for generations to come.
Taxi Driver (1976)
You'll love the mood.. but is the ending worth 2 hours of build up?
A nicely made dark and majestic experience, see the world through the eyes of a weird taxi driver, as his character progresses from a total embarrassment to a mad dog. The movie sends a clear message about society and human ego, and how a man's pride can drift him into insanity.
The mood is nice, a prime example on a classic Noir movie, it builds up and prepares you mentally for the big ending.. an ending that failed to live up to the hype that the movie has built in you.. though it had a short yet exciting action scene the ending is pretty simple and is more about delivering a simple message rather than leaving you amazed or satisfied.
The dark comedy in the movie is pretty clear, it shows you how messed up society really is, the movie was executed flawlessly when it comes to cinematic and production, but it will disappoint you at the very end, the ending was just too "MEH" to bear, especially after an excellent build of events preceding it, such a pity.
I'm sure the movie was a big hit at the time of its release (after the Vietnam war), but I'm not sure it would be enjoyed the same at our current time, so let me put it this way: - If you enjoy a dark Noir mood with nice character development then watch it now. - If you enjoy movies with subliminal messages then add this one to your "watch when I have nothing else to watch" list. - If you're looking for a great story with a nice twist to it, I wouldn't recommend Taxi Driver.
Zodiac (2007)
It's like The Usual Suspects.. without the plot twist..
The film didn't finish its job properly, it takes you through 2 hours and 37 minutes of heavy police work only to slam you in the face with one of those text written "they lived happily ever after" endings.
The movie is good, but "good" as in keeping the viewer occupied, yet it doesn't feed your inner detective or present you with a mind bending mystery, just a guy and a couple of cops going through evidence after evidence, they discover something.. it cancels something they've already assumed and so on.
At first they show you ciphers and codes, you get excited thinking this will be a great mystery movie based on code breaking.. WRONG.. they skip that part pretty quickly.. next.. you see patterns in murders.. you think you'll see a thrilling chase on how they'll track the killer by figuring him out.. WRONG.. they focus on the most trivial aspects of a murder.. next.. they show you that the killer was challenging the police.. don't get any ideas.. WRONG!!! they've completely ignored everything relating to that..
all the focus of the movie is oriented around finding his identity without examining evidence.. collecting as much circumstantial nonsense and making sense out of it..
The movie fools you too often, for bad not good.. you expect something awesome only to be surprised by the exact opposite.. it has succeeded on many levels but has failed on most.. this isn't your typical Sherlock unveiling the truth movie.. just a fanatic obsessed with finding a killer.. 6/10 is a very generous score in my opinion..
The Walking Dead: The First Day of the Rest of Your Life (2017)
The series is officially over now..
Let's face it.. the showrunners just don't care.. they built a fanbase after the first 2 or 3 seasons.. they got their money.. and now the're just stalling.. if you exclude the first 3 episodes, this entire season is just one giant filler episode.. and i'm not even kidding.. no episode had any connection to the main storyline.. they spat on the comics and played us into thinking this season will be different..
the finale was abysmally dull.. a couple of pace changing moments but they quickly cool down to an utterly ridiculous and cringeworthy chitty chat scene.. The ending is just absolutely nerve wrecking.. one moment we see a little action the next they all calm and start talking about hope, and it still wasn't over.. what happened? The episode is inconsistent in the most absurd way imaginable.. the story writing and dialogue were also incredibly poor..
Believe me this episode is pure parody material, the internet will be flooded soon with parodies of it.
This piece of poorly written garbage they called an "episode" is the finger that the showrunners gave us knowing there will still be people coming back to watch the next season.. but I know i won't, I have recently started reading the comics and with all honesty I have greatly enjoyed them..
it's time we bury The walking dead TV series and just move on to something else.
Chinatown (1974)
Majestic on the outside.. empty on the inside
A nicely executed movie with a couple of ups and downs that will get you feeling a little giddy at times.. and then leaves you with filler content that doesn't relate to the main plot..
Waiting for that promised mystery to unveil itself.. you'll be surprised that the solution for that awaited mystery had just passed as one of those short giddy moments..
The movie tries hard to keep the suspense on by throwing in some nice change of events.. but those events only climb up to a cliché and utterly unsatisfying ending..
The main plot deviated from the main conspiracy and moved on to personal affairs and bad blood.. not saying it wasn't a good change of pace, but you can't just give too much back story on a topic then simply ditch it half way through the movie..
This movie had so much potential.. such a shame seeing it end like a generic Steven Seagal movie..
Ex Machina (2014)
The movie could have been sized down to only 10 minutes
In brief, the concept of the movie has been explored before, the story events are pretty basic, nothing much happens, dialogue after dialogue.
could a movie be that low on content and still have something to show for 110 minutes? The way the movie flows makes us believe something big is gonna happen.. we keep focusing on the bigger image hoping a conspiracy of some sort is going to take place.. too bad.. by the end of the movie you'll be left with an obvious and utterly predictable "twist".. which I'm sure you will guess half way through the film.. and you'll be also left with a clear message: "It's still a Robot mate!"
The movie does well in deceiving you at some stages.. but then again, the concept is pretty old.. and we've seen or heard too many stories like this one (and even better)..
True Detective: Omega Station (2015)
This Season is an insult to every True Detective fan out there..
Before I start I'm not going to give this a 1/10 because the finale was a thrilling experience, but it isn't enough to save the season from being an utter disaster.
For such an over complicated story 8 episodes aren't enough to cover 10% of it.. especially when most of the content is mere family issues, broken relationships, people talking about their history with no background stories & bad blood. All the events of this season are happening in such an inconsistent and unorganized way that you lose track of what's really going on.. Nothing gets explained they just throw random statements in your face and expect you to analyze and understand the plot yourself.
And why do you name this "True Detective" when there's no actual detective work.. The only shots we witnessed that might relate to any real police work we expected were just a couple of minutes of the main characters reading out some documents, and as you expect NOTHING GETS EXPLAINED, they discover something.. throw a statement.. then back to the boring "talking about my problems" sequel.
And what's with the terrible screen writing and awful nerve-wrecking quotes that have absolutely no meaningful resemblance!
I can write for hours and not cover up all the points that make this season the biggest disappointment in TV history since Lost.
Shin Sekai Yori (2012)
Well executed, but don't expect much..
Don't get me wrong this show is well made, well written and well animated but these aspects alone aren't enough to make an anime worth your time.
Firstly, too much high school kids drama, stuff you just don't want to see in a show that's trying hard to take itself seriously. The show has illustrated many mature post-apocalyptic concepts but were ruined by its immature & unnecessary filler content making the show terribly slow and inconsistent.
Secondly, the way the story and events escalate gives us all the reason to believe a huge twist is coming.. Think again! If you are paying enough attention you can actually predict the "twist" easily before any of its events begin to unfold.. basically there are no "twists" just a few change of events that are highly predictable.
Finally, the thing that might annoy you the most is that the show doesn't know exactly what it's supposed to be.. Is it a fantasy anime about super humans and their journey? Is it a mature anime about rebellions and human evolution? or is it a high-school romantic drama gone south?
All I can say is.. the show was different and unique.. but it's one of those shows that you just want to erase from your mind as soon as the final credits start rolling.
